Alright, third game, against the Necromantic team again. Lack of options, I'm afraid, so I'm facing a monster of a team which gives me 560k in inducements. So I got a Halfling Master Chef, Reroll and Babe.

In summery (because frankly...):

Result: 0 - 3
Casaulties: 1 -2

Pros: I managed a total of four crowd pushes, resulting in one injury. I also got a single casualty caused by my Thrower, and a Completion from one of my Runners. Managed to steal two rerolls with the Master Chef on the second half. My Cheerleaders also helped me win two Cheering Fans, despite having -2 FAME.

Cons: Being unable to do anything else bar stuns (rolled ALOT of 7's - need Mighty Blow...), all enemy injuries Regenerated, Thrower unable to either pick up the ball or throw it with any degree of competence, critical failed dodge roll resultings in handing the enemy yet another Touchdown, two Miss Next Games suffered by my team, Master Chef did nothing on the first half (when I needed them to have no rerolls...). Won a mere 10k, enemy won 80k. Typical.

Oh well. At least none of my players are suffering any perminant injuries, and at least I got a single skill roll on my Thrower (thought instead of the Most Valuable Player award, he was given the 'Most Violated Player' award by my opponant...).

I bought a single Lineman to pad out my team for next match. I was going to save up for an Ulfwerener, but my winnings were too pitiful.

Speaking of which, my current Ulfwerener and Berzerkers have yet to get any SPP's. Despite really, really trying. It's sad, really it is.

Wow. I feel for you.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Hate games like that. Hard to do anything about it but change dice and keep on hoping.

Well I'm not going to give up hope, and maybe next time I can play against a lower TV opponant.

And at least now I have Sure Hands on my Thrower. Hopefully he can now pick up the ball. Though I think I'll refrain from attempting even a handoff next game and just try to run the ball to the endzone.

My players have no problem with knocking the enemy down, so that's a blessing at least. And I have crowd pushing down quite well (to the point where my opponant deployed away from the sides to stop me doing it a 5th time!), and I'm making very good use of my Guard Lineman. Now I just need to start rolling higher on my injury rolls, and get that ball into that Endzone.

Running the ball sounds like a plan. Usually a good idea with Norse.

And for inducements, the Master Chef is very pricy. I'd probably select other inducements instead. Rerolls, Bribes, Babes and a Wandering Apothecary do the trick for me.

Don't forget how effective Mercs can be when they start with Block.

Add tackle against Elves.

Fend against nasty cagey teams.

Maybe Dauntless against high ST sides.

Running is a good option for Norse. They're fast enough to form the cage before the other guy can crash in and screw it up. Just pick an area and bust through it with everything you've got.

I'm hoping that my Sure Hands Thrower can now get hold of that ball and score a few times in my next game. He's currently on 9SPP, so two TD's and a completion (or one TD and an MVP...) will get him another skill. And I'm seriously considering Dump Off.

Thus I can cage the ball, and if the opposing team busts it I can dump the ball off to a Runner standing a few squares away. I imagine that would really, really irritate my opponants.

With two rerolls, I'd be thinking Leader

Dump off is ok but if you have someone standing next to you it will still be a 4+ to get rid of the ball :o

I would go for leader as well, you need the re-rolls. :)

To be honest, I'd be less worried about anyone catching the ball - just getting it the hell away from any enemy player able to sweep it up and score a lightning touchdown (which has happened far too many times to me already...). I can always try to pick it back up again next turn in any case.

I'd probably concentrate on forming better cages!

Kick off return would help you there since it gets him closer to the LOS when retrieving the ball, making it easier to form the cage where you probably have most of your players already.

Yep, try to form a cage to go down a wide zone, then use your berserkers and Ulfs to crowd push any opposition in the way. Get Kick Off Return so your Sure Hands player is catching the kick, then go straight to a fast moving cage.
