human team skills
hi im thinking of taking a human team to thrudbowl at 1.1million with no star players i will take
4x blitzers = 360k
4x catchers=280k
2xthrowers=140k
3xlineman=150k
total= 930k
3xrerolls=150k
2x ff
total = 1.1million
the question is what skills do you take and in what order,like the bloodbowl you get one normal skill after each match (6 matches)
cheers

Valuable skills would include Guard on Blitzers, one Tackle, maybe a Kick, Block on a Catcher.
First though, I'd look at your roster. Firstly a coach and a cheerleader will be much more valuable than 2 FF in a tournament. Secondly, 13 players isn't that many, especially when you have four of them with ST 2. I might swap out a catcher, a thrower and a point of FF for 3 linemen.

thinking about it the extra lineman is agood idea cheers
with skills i agree with gaurd for a blitzer and dodge for a catcher i was also thinking of taking accurate as would like to play passing game (i know it is a little risky)
when at the GT a guy used kick and sidestep well together to swamp me and put pressure on the ball from the kickoff ,do you think these skills are worth taking just for this play?
obviously side step would have its own advantages aswell.
thanks for your post you got me thinking now!!!

I meant to mention Kick, and yeah Side Step can be great on a Catcher. However without Blodge that player is a lot easier to deal with. You'd have to take a couple to make the tactic viable, and to be honest it is a marginal option and you'd have all your eggs in one basket. It's more of a league ploy IMO. Block on linemen would be of much greater value.
As for Accurate, well it is a skill you almost can't do without if you want to play that way. But I don't believe playing that way is the best way to go personally. Humans are much better suited to a swift running play (think Skaven) than passing. If you want to pass use Elves.
Pass skill alone is enough to threaten the option. 4+ short pass with re-roll is still 75%. Anything longer than that is desperation stakes with Humans, and you shouldn't pick skills with it in mind.

I would take:
Block on a thrower
Guard on a blitzer
Frenzy on a blitzer (better then tackle since it works vs every team)
and then more guard on blitzers
Kick is for teams like skaven and woodies, while humans are fast they aren't mobile enough to make most use of it. Guard is more usefull.
For your setup I would think about getting the ogre in. Versus bashy teams he's a must-have! I also think 2 rerolls is too few.
I think you can make a roster with 2 cachers, an ogre, 4 blitzers, 2 throwers, 3 linemen and 3 rerolls (don't bother with ff, the upgrade to thrower is more usefull). 12 players will do just fine as long as you protect your catchers.
That's what I took last time I took humies to a tourney (scored 3-1-1).

14 players is a bit excessive: i think that tuern is onto a better team list, but maybe that because its the one i would go with, although i might consider getting a 3rd catcher, and dropping the ogre (you don't seem happy with it) and get 2xcheer and 2xcoach.
basically, you'll only need about 12 players on most tourney teams; except stunties, and possibly elves (don't really know). basic skills are essential, so 4 blitzers are a 'must', 2-3 catchers, with dodge and catch, are helpful, whilst their high speed means they can be useful for assists and threatening the opponents backfield, 2 throwers are good because they both have sure hands and pass, which makes picking up the ball safer, but only 1 is essential. ogres are fun, have good strength and as the _last_ move of your turn can be effective at smacking down. then fill up with linemen to 12 players.
as for skills i'm not sure, but i would again follow tuerns advice - its solid, if not tactically adventurous.

i have played acouple of games with an ogre and he has performed really poorly (bone head)
skill wise was thinking block on the catchers would really improve mmy chances of scoring.
like the idea of frenzy though and sometimes people leave the wide zones in fear of being pushed of the pitch-perfect for my block and dodge catchers to run through!!!
cheers for your ideas guys.
what do you think of taking acurrate?

Skills wise you need some Cas generating blitzers: mighty blow, piling on, some guard in the blitzers, some tackle somewhere and anything else i think is non-essential just personal preference or tailoring to your opponents.
for catchers i like getting block and sidestep, adding diving tackle to annoy elves/rats. I also like sure feet and sprint on others. Having really quick catchers helps scoring alot and makes pressured 2turners so much easier. Strip ball can also be an interesting choice.
Linemen need block/wrestle
After that just tailor to your own preferences and whichever doubles you roll.

It would be most helpful to stick to the query at hand.stormmaster1 wrote:Skills wise you need some Cas generating blitzers: mighty blow, piling on, some guard in the blitzers, some tackle somewhere and anything else i think is non-essential just personal preference or tailoring to your opponents.

That is a tournie roster with one normal skill after each game.
