To scrap or not to scrap.

Post by Crivens »

My Pro Elf Team (St Tyrions School for Elfs that don't read good or do other things good too) has had a hard first two matches.

Game 1: -1av on catcher
Game 2: Catcher (a different one) Killed, who also scored 2 TD's in the match he was killed.

Made 100k in my first two games (40k then 60k), a loss (v dark elves) and a draw (vs Lizardmen)

My Team is now down to:
Blitzer (5spp)
Blitzer + dodge (8spp)
Catcher -1AV (0spp)
Catcher (3spp)
Thrower (5spp)
5 Lineman (1 has kick, the rest have 0 spp)
FF3 (one increase from the draw)
2 RR.

If I was to remake the team I'd start with 0 FF and another Thrower.

With 100k I could replace a Catcher or get an Apothicary and hold out for another 50k to replace him later.

My issue is that after two games I'm already 100k down with another 100k on his way out (AV6 catcher, its only a matter of time really)

So should I scrap and remake? Its still fairly early on in the league at least two teams have not had there first game yet ( DE's have had 3 and Lizards have had 1)

Do you play LRB 4 or 5?

If 5 this team is still playable. Get two loner, and take it as a man.

If LRB 4 its a hard start, since you'll allways start with less players, and this will hurt your team further.

If I would start a pro elf team, I would not take even one thrower. All your elf players have AG4, so everyone can pass. Get en Apo with the money you saved.

With a Pro Elf thrower only being 10k more expensive, I'd tend towards starting with at least one.

As for your issue, I'd be tempted to cut your AV6 catcher now and journeyman/Eldril it up for a while.

Buy the apo and save for a catcher. Use journeymen in the meantime. You've got 3 players ready to skill up, well, one is limping a bit, but still useful. And all teams take some banging around. Build on what you've got.

It's a Dark Elf world, we just let you live in it to provide fresh victims. - and I still want an Executioner to kill sauruses with.

Upon consideration I like the team too much to scrap it.

I'll be playing the new teams first and with a TV of 107 I'm only really giving them a babe or a cheap card. Dropping the squishy catcher for a journyman will only drop that TV by 40. If at one stage that 40 tv means the difference between getting Eldril or not (or giving the other side a wizard) I'll reconsider then.

I'm tempted to keep the AV 6 catcher and hope he lasts till I can buy 2 more. In the mean time I'll just use him as my hand off guy when I go for pass-hand off-TD!'s and in general try to get SPP on the others first. At least with the AV6 target on his head the other teams will prob favour going for him over my other catcher.

My reasoning for the above is that I think I'd rather a move 8 positional that is temporary than a journyman lineman.

I bought the Apoth and I only really intend to use it in the case of another death.

Thanks for the reply's. The feedback we very helpfull.

Good decision. I think the length of your season and playoff structure would be a major factor in forcing your retirement decision. Unless you have a really short league season, less than 8 games, you're probably best off toughing it out and playing through 2-3 more "rebuilding" games. This is mostly because accruing enough SPP to develop a few combo-skilled stars is way more useful to leveraging late season wins than simply having a full allotment of positionals for your roster.
