Wrong skill selection

Post by Biggen79 »

Heya. Me and a friend of mine are running a BB league. A player is playing Khemri and we are about 8 games into the league ( only 6 players). For about 4 games ago he gave one of his Mummys Frenzy on a normal skill roll but neither me or my co - commish noticed it but of course now we have. My question is what do we do now?

Does he get to keep the skill even though we know it´s wrong and just put +10k on TV?

Do we replay the games he has had it in?

Just cope with the fact that we have missed it before and remove it now and let him get a normal skill instead?

Is it up to us commishes to decide or is there something written down i the rules about situations like this?

As a commish, I would let it be and add the extra to his team value. Too late to do anything else. Can't punish the player since it was up to the commish to keep an eye on things.

Let him keep it and add +10k to his TV. Mistakes happen, nothing to be done about now.

Agree with letting him keep the skill now. But if you somehow wanna punish him for this, agree that the next time he rolls a double on a skill he must consider this a "normal" roll.

Only two choices really make sense.

1) Keep the skill and add 10k to the team.

2) Make him change to a skill normally available.

In a really competitive league, I'd choose 1). After all, if three players have played against a Frenzy mummy, then the remaining players should also have to deal with it.

(If the league is ultra-competitive, dock his treasury a small amount for the oversight... no more than 50k.)

In a friendly league, either solution is OK. As a league commish, I'd always go with number 1, personally. At least on the first such offense.

Same happened in our league. Let him have it and just and it to his TV.

If it's likely to be a mistake, I'd just up the TV, with a warning to be more careful with future skill choices.
If there's a chance it was a deliberate "mistake", I might take a harder line.

I'd say if he's sure he rolled a regular skill, he should drop it and take a regular skill. The harm is done in the games already played, but there's no sense in piling further mistakes on top of it.

There's only so much you should be blaming on the Commissioner. Coaches ought to know what's legal for their players. Also, if you take the opinion that it was up to the Commssioner to "catch" it, you're setting up a dangerous league dynamic, IMO.

I had a similar situation in my league.

We just adjusted the team value and that was it. And made sure that all skill rolls and adjustments are done together with your opponent after each game.

Personally, I'd reverse it. Allowing a player to keep an illegal benefit just because no one caught them at it for a couple of games is a very dangerous precedent.

Or at the very least, adjust the cost as above, and mark the roster so that the next double rolled for any skill is treated as a normal skill (including any 5+5 or 6+6). While it's probable he didn't intend to make the mistake, a glitch like this needs some form of penalty to make others reconsider doing it intentionally.

That's what I'd do...

Let him keep it and adjust TV, then deny his next double.

We did reset our league once because of mistakes like this and the fun was gone. So just take the blame yourself and keep a closer look on advancements in the future.

I have to agree here with the majority. In our league we had a player who did this. We added +10 to his mummys cost, and told him the next time he rolled a dbl (including str, mv or armour raise) it would count as his frenzy.
It only became a probelem when another more unscrupulous player, started to give his players a dbl skill, then using the "Oh. I did not realise"
With him we just made him retire the player and docked money.

In all fairness though, Being my leagues commish, I do know it is difficult to keep track of everything going on. My advice to you is to tell your players to know there own teams. If they dont, why should they expect you too.
