AG4 Orc Blitzer?
I just got an AG increase for my orc blitzer. Of course, its a cool thing to have as it opens up for a play that orcs dont usually master, but Im at loss. How do I use the blizter best?
Im playing in a league where Im (more or less) the strongest team (with a ST5 BOB and a troll) and theres quite a lot agility teams (DE, PE, Amazon, Goblin, 2 Human, Norse and 2 chaos).
The blitzers:
no1: Dodge (next: Stand Firm)
no2: Tackle, MB (with all that dodge around...)
no3: Tackle (next: Guard)
no4: AG
The BOBs are going for block/SF or Block/guard.
So, what to do with my AG4 blitzer? A hunter? A ball player? A ball carrier?

On offense he can be your ball carrier. The "thing" with orcs on offense is that they have decent throwers, but nobody to throw TO. Now they have someone to throw to, although I still wouldn't get carried away and try an all out passing game. The idea is you get the ball with a thrower, and throw a quick/short pass to your AG4 blitzer, who will then head for the middle of the cage to slowly grind down the field.
On defense, he can be the guy you count on to make the dodge to put that last assist on the opponent ballcarrier, or whatever the case may be. That extra mobility from AG4 is great.

I wouldn't bother with sure hands-he could pick up the ball, but i'd rather the thower do it and then (at least when he has accurate) do a quick pass to him (rerolled 2) then he can catch it (on a 2) and run into the cage upfield.
Dodge would be great on a double-otherwise guard as a normal skill so he can be a mobile assist. But the great thing about an 6349 player is that they can do a bit of everything.
He's a good ball carrier (esp when the traffic is heavy and you need to score a bit quicker, possibly dodging away to go for the TD).
I wouldn't use him as a ball player-as wes said, you've no-one to pass to and the throwers with their starting skills are better at it.

I was lucky enough to have an Orc team with not one, but two AG4 blitzers. In fact I was even luckier than that, because one had AG5 and they both got MV7 too!
Strip Ball is a great skill for your mobile blitzers. It is something people tend not to know how to deal with from Orcs. Guard is also fantastic, as you can get that assist in where it is really needed. Tackle is also very good, as you will very often find yourself needing to make a last ditch 1D blitz against a Gutter Runner or Ghoul. Sometimes you can even dodge into or past a loose cage to do this.
I would say Dodge is a no-brainer on doubles. You will be using your AG the most for dodge rolls, but 2+ is by no means safe.
All the best.

Dodge on doubles.
You need two Stand-Firmers to play CB, so get Stand Firm on the next Blitzer to go up (the Tackle guy is better for this than the +AG guy).
Personally, I wouldn't give him Tackle (you've got 2, and that's enough) or Sure Hands (ditto). I would consider Pro or Strip Ball, but my general policy with Blitzers after their second roll is to try to get them MB or Frenzy and hold off scoring with them if I can help it. This guy sounds like an outside LB in the Orcish 3-4, which makes Guard a good option. Don't feel like you need to build a combo: this guy will be scoring for you AND holding a place in your defensive backfield.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

This is what I'd be thinking.Joemanji wrote: Guard is also fantastic, as you can get that assist in where it is really needed.
He's going to be an asset with ball handling regardless of skills.
Make him good at something else when you're not using him for that.

Yep, as Joemanji and matt said: Guard on reg skill, Dodge on doubles.
AG4 and Guard allows you to put the assist where you need it. Dodge makes you both more mobile (see above) and tougher to take down.

Put him in at OLB, two squares in from the WZ, in front of and inside the Cornerback, who should get Stand Firm.

Outer Linebacker, right? Been reading Matts post and Ive learned a lot.wesleytj wrote:Hehe assuming you know American Football terminology, matt's right.
So heres a question related to that, if my OLB lacks guard (and my opponant has lots) Im better off with a BOB as CB than a Blitzer? Im thinking my ST4 requires 2 ass. while the blitzer can easily be taken out with only one ass. Right?

Well, when I play defense with orcs, I always have BOB's on the corners. THEN I also get Guard on those OLBs too, but if you don't have that, you don't have it. Then my other 2 BOBs are on the line with the troll.

this 4AG Blitzer is going to be your utility guy. He'll handle or catch the ball when you need it, then chase the ball when you're on defense. Give him strip ball or another good defensive skill. That 4AG is enough of a boost for offense for a while.
