journeymen vs savings

Post by El Hombre »

hello,

we came up with a particular problem yesterday evening, possibly already asked, but couldn't find the answer up here.

My darkies pummeled my friends necro's. He ended up with 2 MNG players and a dead ghoul. He did however get 80.000 winnings.

now: Can he keep the 80.000, continue saving for his second flesh golem and play his next match with 3 journeymen? Or is he forced to spend the 80.000 on players to try to make it to 11 players? (which would be 2 zombies...)

Yours,
El Hombre

We've always played that he can save as long as he wants, and hire journeymen to bring his team up to 11 players if required (as long as his team was created with at least 11 players in the first place).

You are not required to spend money to replace players. Taking 3 Journeymen in this case is totally fine.

But can you start a team with less then 11 players and then fill the gab with JM in the first match?

Is this true, I was under the impression that you HAD to field 11 players to start a match.

No, you have to start a team from new with 11 rostered players, and you must start a drive with as many players as you can field (upto 11). If you only have 10 players, you only field 10. Nowhere in the rulebook does it say that buying players or journeymen is complusory.

Technically, if you feel like just throwing money away and it was really that important to you; I suppose you could buy your first 11 players, and then immediately fire some or all of them. Or, can you only do that in the post game sequence, so you can't fire everyone until the end of your first game?

Only in post-match, which you don't have until you've played one game, hence why you have to have a starting rsoter of 11 players.

Sounds good, so if that odd situation ever comes up I now have the answer.
