Stab and Frenzy
@specialist-games.com
Can you sub your blocks for stabs when frenzying?
What I'm getting is that per the skill descriptions, you could either not use frenzy (by stabbing, you don't get a pushed or defender stumbles result on the first block), or by throwing the first block, following up a push or defender stumbles, and then substituting your stab for the second block attempt. Thoughts?
I don't see anything in the rules that would prevent it. You would have to use it as you describe though, either Stab, no Frenzy; or Block, Pushback, Frenzy, Stab
Can you do this???

I don't see any reason why you can't do this. As you mention the first time you sub a stab the frenzy chain will end. Frenzy forces you to throw a block, stab allows you to substitute a block with a stab attack.

Frenzy skill description: (LRB5 page 45)
A player with this skill is a slavering psychopath who attacks his
opponents in an uncontrollable rage. Unless otherwise overridden, this
skill must always be used. When making a block, a player with this skill
must always follow up if they can. If a 'Pushed' or 'Defender Stumbles'
result was chosen, the player must immediately throw a second block
against the same opponent so long as they are both still standing and
adjacent. If possible the player must also follow up this second block.
----
So, you MUST throw a second block and therefore player can't use the stab skill.

I didn't know that. Never thought of that one. Could make an Assassin worth taking. Use the block on the first hit and if you push the opposition player into a 1 die or 2 die against situation, just stab him.

Same for Multiple Block ... you can replace either the first or the 2nd block with Stab (or both).whitetiger wrote:I didn't know that. Never thought of that one. Could make an Assassin worth taking. I was under the impression, if you chose to use the stab on the first hit, then it cancelled frenzy. It is a nice option, hit him then possibly stab, or just stab and stop.Vesto wrote:Frenzy skill description: (LRB5 page 45)

To reword this; the very nature of stab makes the following qualifier of Frenzy impossible:dwarfrunner wrote:I was under the impression, if you chose to use the stab on the first hit, then it cancelled frenzy. It is a nice option, hit him then possibly stab, or just stab and stop.

Stab causes no knockback, so you can't follow up.
Stab has no roll, so no 'Pushed' or 'Defender Stumbles' results to trigger the second block.

My Frenzy Assasin blocks with an assist - 2d
PUSH
Uh Oh! No assist, and it looks like you've got two...
I'll try a quick stab instead of my second block
Through armour, and a KO - great
Err - Hi Guys... Sorry about your friend
Please Don't kill me! *whimpers behind his AV7*

Once again Mo's Marauders clear the field. Can anyone stop them? This reporter doesn't think so!

To each their own I guess, but I'm not sure I'd pick Frenzy on an assassin. I would consider Multiple Block (on doubles) however, just for the psychological effects it has on your opponent...
