I usually try to just keep the other team slow by building a loose two layer wall 1 square away from them and moving it back again 1 square away so they can only ever hit one of us. Then when the time is right try to Blitz the ball carrier (usually 2 dice against you) but my team has 2 halflings w/ Block. I haven't yet had a chance to play against Skaven or Wood Elves, and I don't think that this would work anyway against them. Good Luck

I'd figure defence for the halflings without skills yet should be about placing as many TZ in the way to force turnovers. Keeping your guys one space away to only allow one block should do. And as soon as its possible send a hafling with the help of stunty to try and knock the ball lose.

If you had to pick a skill for a halfing for a double take strip ball. There's nothing more humiliating for a smash team than having a hafling to a two dice block and get the ball loose.

Praying is good.... But loading up on skills as well as at least one big guy is probably your best bet. If you are in a league, just have a high fan factor to get the money from the gates. Oh and use lots of dirty tricks!

Definitley the 1 square withdrawal is the way to go. Getting the ball out is the tricky part.

Use Big Guys for two pruposes. One to step up into the front of the cage and stall it. Also to send Flings over the top to threaten the back of the cage/pocket.

Against speed teams use your dodge/stunty combo to drive into his team after the ball carrier and spread back for sweepers. Also to bring two or three Flings to bear on the ball when you really need it, for the one or dice dice YOU pick rolls.

Oh yeah, and like kaboom says

If you have 2 Trees use a 3-4-4 defense.

Give the 4 middle Halflings Diving Tackle. You be surprised how well this can slow down the opponent's drive
