Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
Don't understand a particular rule or just need to clarify something? This is the forum for you. With 2 of the BBRC members and the main LRB5/6 writer present at TFF, you're bound to get as good an answer as possible.
That's not what Galak has been saying. The impression he's been giving, both here and on other BB forums, is that Slann, Underworld and Pact are all "official", but due to GW policy, the slann cannot be put in the LRB until there are models for them, and the BBRC decided to put all 3 teams together to put more weight behind them.
If they're not official, but still experimental, then you and Galak need to have a talk, and start singing from the same hymn sheet.
This is largely a question of semantics. For me official is part of the published rule set (i.e. LRB5) which Slann are most definitely not.
At the moment they are not going to be included in LRB6 either, which means they technically are not in the experimental rule set either.
So they fall into what I call BBRC "endorsed". We like them, we want them, they just aren't in due to GW corporate.

I have always read Galak to say exactly what Ian is saying above- although the word official sure is getting a workout here.
In specific, I think Galak is saying the same thing as Ian in this excerpt:
...JJ allowed the BBRC to vote on them and make them official new teams with the caveat that the rules cannot be printed in an LRB until he can get figures for them. JJ also fully blessing the NAF making the teams official is just another sign that is all ways these teams are now part of BB ... its just the small detail about them actually getting printed in the LRB which is being controlled by folks above JJ...
So what's the official work on their "officialness" then? I.E. what's JJ say?
Tbh, I have to say I'm disappointed - I was under the impression that this was cut & dry - the fact Ian was involved with the "should the 3 teams be added" thread on the NAF forum and never gave this view, makes me wonder what the other 3 BBRC members think. In fact, if I'd known it wasn't so clear, I probably wouldn't have fought so hard to get them listed for the NAF.

Darkson - I thought it was clear that Slann etc were on a par with experimental rule status. Even if GW weren't opposed to making them official they'd still only be experimental until LRB6.
The NAF has allowed experimental teams to have ranking previously (Elf, Necro's etc) so there is precedent for allowing these sorts of teams in.

No, it was clear the Slann etc were official in every way, except they couldn't be put in the LRB until there were models. We were led to believe this meant (not just by me, I hasten to add) the the 3 teams were the same officially as Skaven, Elf, Orc etc. apart from not being in the LRB5. This is not the same as being "experimental".

AFAIK those 3 will not be official until there are slann minis from GW (i.e. never).
So I don't think even the most optimistic would have figured them as headed for LRB 6.
Not in the rulebook, but endorsed by BBRC.
Sounds like Experimental Rules that have cleared playtest - but still can't be added.
IMO, that's neither Official nor truly Experimental (as the experimenting has stopped).

[snip]
However ... JJ's bosses won't allow the team to appear in print in the LRB until they have figures and its an all or nothing thing ... either the 3 get printed or they don't.
Soooooo what you have is official team RIGHT NOW (don't have to wait until LRB 6.0) ... that have a pretty high chance of still not being printed in LRB 6.0.

If it were not for GW Corporate's refusal to accept new teams they would be experimental. So I don't really understand how Galak can maintain they are official.
