Failed Throw Team Mate

Post by UtakHai »

Hi there,

in a game recently played in our league a goblin without the ball is thrown, but scatters back to the throwing ogre, inflicting a casualty on the ogre.

There where 2 questions arousing:

1.) Is this a turnover, because a teammate has gone down?
2.) Do you get SPP for causing a casualty disregarding friend or foe?

In LRB 4.0 Question 1.) is answered in the faq, but this was LRB 4.0.
Regarding 2.) I believe SPP for causing cas only counts while blocking/blitzing (also mentioned in LRB 5.0).

But just to get sure, please point out quotes of the LRB 5.0 to have a base of argumentation.

Thanks

As to 1)
LRB 5.0 - Turnovers wrote: 1. A player on the moving team is Knocked Down (being injured by the crowd or being Placed Prone is not a turnover unless it is a player from the active team holding the ball … e.g. skills like Diving Tackle, Piling On and Wrestle count as being Placed prone
LRB 5.0 - TTM wrote: If the final square he scatters into is occupied by another player, treat the player landed on as Knocked Down and roll for Armour (even if already Prone or Stunned), and then the player being thrown will scatter one more square.
As the player is knocked down and not placed prone, I'd conclude it's a turnover.

As to 2)
LRB 5.0 - How to earn star player points wrote: Casualties (CAS): If a player causes an opposing player to be removed as a Casualty then they earn 2 Star Player points. The points are only earned if the player blocks an opponent or is blocked by an opponent himself. Casualties inflicted in any other way (including injuries inflicted by the crowd or from attacks with chainsaws, bombs, or the Stab skill) do not count for Star Player
points.

Block or blocked. You do not gain any SPP for causing casuality with a thrown goblin, regardless WHO is injuried

If your goblin isn't holding the ball when he faceplants into the dirt it's not a turn over. In actual fact if the little fella survives without injury (or being stunned) he can then (providing he hasn't taken an action) hop up and scamper away!! The only time a splattered Gobbo causes a turnover is when he's holding the ball!
