Amazons - Theoretical LRB7 Discussion

If there ever is an LRB7 I'll try to ensure 'zons and humans are near the top of the agenda.

My issue is that 'zons are much more bash inclined than humans. For me it ought to be the other way around - passing/running ought to be more the female tactic than bash IMO.

So I think I'd give the 'zons the human catcher instead of their own and then remove the universal dodge from the rest of the team. The 6337 Dodge is just too bland and doesn't offer real variety. I'm not sure exactly what. Maybe make them more a 7337 standard stat line.

Humans get a S3 catcher and maybe gain a blocker position. I haven't really spent a lot of time thinking about it and there are lots of options that would work.

However, as Tom pointed out, this is a long way off (if ever).

Based on Ian's comments above, I would like to start a conversation on what the theoretical LRB7 Amazon and Human teams might look like.

So, with no further ado, here is my starting point for our Amazon discussion:

I've based it on Ian's comments and the previous Amazonian team that the MBBL (and others) tested.

I would like to see the blitzers have wrestle rather than block.

I don't know, I just have a vision of guys with too much beer watching girls play in the mud - yep, wrestle is what I see as the appropriate skills for these little ladies...

999? Crap, I've missed about 113 rosters... Was there a 6 3 3 7 tentacles leap roster floated that I missed?

IF you remove dodge from the linewomen, who is going to play this roster? You should ask why people play amazons. A roster with all AV7 players and and no AG4, or no dodge is a team I wouldn't play. Not in tournaments neither in leagues. What is its strength?

Why?

Linewoman. Dodge is good, wrestle is good, but with GA access side step is in the middle of good and bad.

Throwers. Diffrent type of passing game! With alot of side step and grabbing, it can happen.

Catchers. Maybe too slann, but diving catch gives +1 to catch accurate passes. Helps.

Blitzers. A really new playing style. Either bring down the opponent of push them where you wan't them. No more stinking blodgers!!!

16 SideSteppers.. very powerful. Side Step is one of those skills that gets more powerful in numbers. Plus, is the A access intentional? That seems like a very nice setup, too nice for 50k.

Like the thrower. Lots. GAP is a skill access combination that's flexible without being overpowered. Especially seeing as the most likely P skill for "every day" use, NoS, doesn't complement HMP.

The blitzers are too powerful. GAS is an awesome skill access (Guard complements most A skills a bit too well), and both provided skills are very useful. I'd suggest fewer or less useful skills, or else dropping A access.

As Beholden points out, there are a few things about the Amazon/Human lineups that are a bit counter-intuitive. The human catchers are one of them; 8237 is a statline I can see on a lithe warrior who's been brought up fighting skaven and skinks, but not on your average human Joe Catcher. I'd like to make fixing that particular peculiarty a central point of this thread.

You are trying to make the MBBL (PBeM) as difficult as possible, right

Side step is a no-no starting skill on a 0-16 position. I'd probably be concerned on a 0-4 position - especially if it had GA access.

I'm not sure what Line women should look like. To me its either 6337 Skill or 7337 no skill. Either way I think GA access and 50k.

For a skill the options aren't that great. Dodge is out, as is block. There aren't that many skills that really leap out at me. I don't want wrestle (although the imagery is interesting ) since its a bit too bash and I'd rather have flair. I think Sidestep is far too powerful, as is stand firm. There really aren't that many other skills that work. Fend or Jump Up both have some appeal.

In my old age I'm getting skill adverse too - so I think I'm tending towards 7337 and no skill but GA access.

Catchers have to be 8237 Catch, Dodge 80k for me.

Blitzers I think 7338 Wrestle GS (or GAS) for 80k would be interesting.

Throwers 7337 Sure Hands, Pass GP would be 70k.

That team however doesn't really appeal because its light skaven. No gutter runners, no mutations.

So then I swing back to 6337 SKILL for the line women to try and give the team more flavour...

Very true, would need the blodge blitzers (edit), who were what made the team.

Maybe change the catchers to be -ST, +MA and add in a thrower 0-2 6337 Dodge, Pass. Runner and thrower a la Norse, might also have to restrict the blitzers to 0-2 as they are what seem to be the big tournie bug bear.

Disadvantages: No Block at start (or Dodge) = bad at low TV.

Advantages: MA7 allows any lino to score in 2 turns without GFIs.
GA access is so much better than G access.
