Side Stepper Chain Pushed

Post by emeyin »

Ok what happens if my opponent pushes one of my players without Side Step into another one of my players that has Side Step? Do I choose which spot the chain pushed Side Stepper goes to or does he?

Also what if all spots are filled already so that the Side Stepper will have to choose which way to chain push another player.

You choose which square the side stepper goes into unless:

1) the opponent has grab

2) all adjacent squares are occupied (in which case it's a normal push result, opponent chooses square.)

3) You choose not to use Side Step (I have pushed a player out of bounds this way before, tee hee!)

The above always applied, on chain blocks, initial blocks, etc.

@ 1. Isn't Grab not valid with a chainpush? I mean, the traget can be grabbed for sure, but the player with grab could never reach the next player in the chain. Makes no sense unless it's a game mechanic.

From the LRB FAQ

Q: Suppose my opponent pushes back one player into a second player. Who decides where the second player ends up?
A: The coach of the moving team decides all pushback directions unless the pushed player has Side Step. If the player has Side Step, his coach decides where he is pushed to. (note: Grab cannot be used on secondary or more push backs to cancel out Side Step.

Thanks Daefaroth. So no game mechanics but plain logic!

From the rules?
If there are no empty squares, then Sidestep cannot be used.

Right Click (on player being pushed) > Targeted Actions (Normal) > Side Step

Note that in your turn you can also Right Click > Special Actions > Pick Future Side Step Square

Sorry, I'm not being clear...

The opposing player chooses during my turn... Do I have to send him a save game just to choose were the side stepper goes?

Seems time consuming playing Pro Elves if that is the case...

Edit: You just aswered my question in your edit...

But what if I block him again?

The tool will automate, as it would if you didn't preselect a square (and almost noone does). Tom did a pretty good job of guessing where a player would make a Side Step-er go, so it isn't usually a problem. Unfortunately it is just one of those few skills that isn't as effective on PBeM.

I have occasionally on key turns asked my opponent to send back a turn, or given him a long list of potential squares depending on other events.

Neither can I unfortunately! :) It's on an old computer than I haven't got access to right now. Hopefully I'll get it back soon.

Cheers
Joe
