Zzharg Madeye / Barik Farblast price question
Hi,
Yesterday a topic was brought up in our leage where I would like to get some input from other players as well.
Why are Zzarg Madeye and Barik Farblast are available at 60k?
Zzarg is 4 4 3 9 Loner, HMP, Pass, Secret Weapon, Strong Arm, Sure Hands, Tackle and Thick Skill.(8 skills, 6 if you don't count loner/sw)
A regular CD Blocker kosts 70k, has only 3 skills and even one less point of AG and ST.
Barik Farblast is 6 3 3 8 Loner, HMP, Pass, SW, Strong Arm, Sure Hands, Thick skull.
That's also3 additional skills if you compare it with a basic runner but the runner is priced 80k.
Ok, they are loner and (most important) secret weapons but having the price lower then the actual position player in a team seems very very wrong (hell, even the SW Gobbos costs more then a regular gobo)
Looking forward to read your point of view on this one..

its the secret weapon part that does them in
guaranteed for only one drive
if you are forced to field them for the last turn of a drive (rule of 11 players) you can lose them for the game having done nothing
you did point it out already, though I think you are over estimating what a pain that is

I know that as SW he wont do as much "damage" as he could do (with all the skills), but one of the main questions still remain, why is the star cheaper then the actual position on the roster?
Taken your argument, there won't be any reason to price Hack'nSlash at 90k (SW, Chainsaw), Flint Churnblade at 100k (SW, Chainsaw, +20k then the dwarf blitzer), Nobbla at 100k (SW, Chainsaw, +60 compared to the other chainsaw on the gobbo team).

Actually you are now comparing apples to oranges. A Chainsaw is a very effective inducement. Comparing that to a Blunderbust character is totally different.juergen wrote:Taken your argument, there won't be any reason to price Hack'nSlash at 90k (SW, Chainsaw), Flint Churnblade at 100k (SW, Chainsaw, +20k then the dwarf blitzer), Nobbla at 100k (SW, Chainsaw, +60 compared to the other chainsaw on the gobbo team).

Apple/Orange: Ok, admitted I was just pointing out the chainsaws right nowGalakStarscraper wrote:Actually you are now comparing apples to oranges. A Chainsaw is a very effective inducement. Fruit: they are still cheaper then a lineman position of their race (the only 2 I saw in a quick check).
A blunderbust char is not a effective inducement? (depends if your focus is on killing or scoring) Zharg not only has one AG point more than the other dwarfs, he also has sure hands which makes the pickup pretty "easy", ST4 makes him hard to knock down in the cage, strip ball is also ineffective. In Case of barik, he also has reasonable speed.

well, he could slowly walk in the pocket and is always a threat with AG and pass skill.Grumbledook wrote:I wouldn't be too worried about a movement 4 ball carrier
have you actually played against or used these players?
theorybowl doesn't always work out
I admit that I haven't played with or against them, as I said I am posting on behalf of our league (not all speak english) as league commish.
But even if you are right, I still miss the reason why a experienced star is cheaper than the same position on the regular roster

I think SW here is the main thing, they will get sent off after a drive so will be "under-priced".
I reckon Zzharg is a pretty good inducement, not especially for his skills, rather his ST 4. Certainly worth the 60k, maybe more, but at even at that low price he isn't a game breaker-neither of them have block and with loner, blocking with them is a risk.
They also give the option of the passing game, but on their respective teams, I can only see this as a desperation ploy to score in 2-turns and if they are used for that, then you've just paid 60k for two turns' use of a player!

Let me answer it this way.juergen wrote:

The players on roster. These runners who cost more. Are getting paid lifetime contracts. In perpetual leagues this is many, many , many games. At least until they are killed or cut or what-ever.
Per game they [these on roster players] get paid much less than the one off mercenary stars.
These stars are signing on to play a drive.
One drive for you, not a whole match or matches.
Add in the cost to buy a bribe and make it two drives and stall a lot to get a whole game from them and you'll see that they cost more for the entire game.
So they do cost more to hire. Just not numerically like many of the other stars. (Especially the chainsaws who are seriously effective.)
Yes the chainsaw gets paid more per drive than a regular player of the same ilk gets per match, but they are seriously more effective than thier counterparts than two stars are above thiers. And you still pay more per match for the star than the regular runner, just not more per drive than per match.
does that make sense?

Thanks for this explanation, I think I understand your (and Grumbledooks) point better now. Secret Weapon Star Players are cheaper because they only play a drive and therefore are sometimes cheaper then the original position player.Mad Jackal wrote:Let me answer it this way.juergen wrote:

Seems like on TBB most agree on the price - I will bring this up into our league forum and see if this satisfies the coaches.
somehow it still does look to cheap
+1 st, +1 ag, 4 skills, 2 of them doubles
