Playing Wrong

Post by Anduin »

I'm the commish of a fledgling league which just heard about BB about three months ago. We downloaded the LRB and set about learning the game. In our infinite wisdom, we interpreted the passing rules as such:

Only one pass action per turn...Handoff=pass

thus either a pass or handoff - not both

Now obviously once I started reading this forum, I realized our folly, however we have been playing this way for a while now and it's a lot of fun. I've convinced my fellow players to try the correct way, but I'd like to know what to tell them to expect. I assume it will greatly speed up the game. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

What's your League composition? I'd say that it's going to favour the hitting teams. The ability to move the ball end to end is the great strengths of Elves, Skaven and to a lesser extent, humans. I'd be interested to see how things are working out in your league.

We had some discussion on this a while back. Should be an interesting read:

Well.... Actually we had the very same problem...

As they start that damm rule (of hand-off) with "is a kind of very short pass"...
No, no... I must admit, it was my fault - if I read the rule more carefull... but I'm happy I'm not the only one..!... :)

As soon as we found the error (actually in a thread in this forum) we started playing it right.... no big diference, as I see it...
But we didn't made a lot of games with the "new" rules, so I really don't know...

Hey, my thinking is... if it's not broke, don't fix it...

You been playing one way for awgile now right? Then why try to change it. If everyone is following the same rules that were laid down when you first started, then keep it that way. Change the ruling for the next season. Run a few practise games to see how it works, if you all agree you like it then change your ruling. If not, then keep it the way that wors for you.

League Composition:

Amazon
Chaos Dwarf
Orc
Dark Elf
Chaos
Wood Elf

and actually, I would prefer to leave it alone except a few of us were hoping to try some PBeM in the future.

Thanks for the feedback

Well... as in our league everybody was staring (I played a few games way back in 2nd edition) I guess people is still learning the game, so changing hand-off to the right way wasn't a big change in the games..

We changed it just after the last game of a.... how do you say it? well, say "this weekend games"... the problem is I don't play a football (soccer) mangement english game for a while...
:)

Using the right rules can make the game more fun - as your coachs learn how to hand-off to make better passes... and prepare them better for email games....
