FAME
Could someone please explain F.A.M.E for me? I keep reading that section, but I always end up more confused than before.

FAME is the possible effect that having more screaming fans will impart on the random events generated by the kick-off table....
Each coach rolls 2d6 and adds their own Fan Factor....
IF both coaches tie, then FAME for both coaches is zero (0)....
IF one coach is higher than the other, HIS/HER FAME is +1....
IF that higher coach doubles the lower coach's roll, HIS/HER FAME is +2....
FAME is added as a modifier on the kick-off table for the following results:
(6) Cheering Fans
(8 ) Brilliant Coaching
(11) Throw a Rock
(12) Pitch Invasion
Otherwise, AFAIK, FAME has no other effect....

To use Digger's example... If I have fan factor 2 and my opponnent has fan factor 1. We both roll 7 on the dice and add our ff I end up with 9,00 fans, he with 8,000. So my FAME is 1, or 10,000?

Your FAME is 1. Your FAME would still be one even if you'd rolled 10 instead of 9.TeamTræls wrote:To use Digger's example... If I have fan factor 2 and my opponnent has fan factor 1. We both roll 7 on the dice and add our ff I end up with 9,00 fans, he with 8,000. So my FAME is 1, or 10,000?

I don't see any 10,000s mentioned in his example.Digger Goreman wrote:IF both coaches tie, then FAME for both coaches is zero (0)....

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Okay. Last time I played I had ff 2 and rolled four, thus having 8,000 fans. My opponnent ended up with 4,000. Thus, when we rolled a Pitch invasion, all of his players went to the ground, and all but one of mine did too. Couldn't help feeling that was so wrong.Ullis wrote:Your FAME is 1. So, I'd have FAME 1 in this example, and he'd have 0, or?

you have 8 he has 4
if you double the other coach you get +2
so you got +2
you managed to roll 11x 5+ to knock down his entire team? (assuming you only used +1 and not +2 as you actually only had to roll 4+)
and he rolled 10x 6 to knock down most your team?
sounds like you are doing pitch invasion wrong

Something doesn't add up here. Either you rolled a six, thus having (6 + 2) x 1,000 fans (case A) OR you rolled four and had (4+2)x 1,000 = 6,000 fans (case B).Okay. Last time I played I had ff 2 and rolled four, thus having 8,000 fans. My opponnent ended up with 4,000.
Assuming your opponent ends up with 4,000 fans (roll + FF = 4)
In case A: You have double the amount off fans: FAME +2 for you. His FAME = 0. When rolling for pitch invasion, opponents players go down on a 4+, your players only go down on a 6
In case B: You have more fans than your opponent (but not twice as many): FAME +1 for you. His FAME = 0. When rolling pitch invasion, opponents players go down on a 5+, your players only go down on a 6.
It is possible to bring all of the players on the pitch down, but chances to that are... well very very low!
*Edited to correct spelling error.

Pitch invasions are particularly nasty....
It USED TO BE that the number of thousands of fans WAS important... now it's just a stat number for the insanely statistical (which I somewhat am)....
To make it a tiny bit easier...
Take your fan factor and add the roll of 2d6 (each coach does this)....
Do the steps in my above post....
Ignore the "thousands"....
On Pitch Invasion, to echo others, you need a 6 to effect a stun....
The FAME 0 coach will have to roll 6 on any chance....
The FAME 1 coach will have to roll 5 or 6 on any chance....
The FAME 2 coach will have to roll 4, 5, or 6 on any chance....
Think of any number needed as a "target number".... The coaches get to add their team's FAME to the dice roll on the mentioned kick-off effects....
Pitch Invasion
FAME 0 -> (1d6)+0=6 to stun
FAME 1 -> (1d6)+1=6+ to stun
FAME 2 -> (1d6)+2=6+ to stun
You get used to it after awhile....
Oh, and don't forget Darkson's correction that FAME adds to the winnings roll at the end...!

While unusual, it's not impossible. I played a game at a tourney where I had +2 to FAME, rolled a Pitch Invasion and managed to knock down 2 of his 10 players (10 rolls, only 2 4+s). He then rolled against my 11 players, and proceeded to knock down 7 of mine (11 rolls, 7 6s).TeamTræls wrote:Thus, when we rolled a Pitch invasion, all of his players went to the ground, and all but one of mine did too. Does the number of fans mean anything? Isn't it just a fluffy (and cool) way of determining who gets +0, +1 or +2? I'm not quite sure I get it.
