Coach Harris/tchatter:
Thank you, thats great, Ive been looking for something like that for ages :)

Sillysod:
Yes, I agree with that strategy for Slann, and I think it should be their default one. Caging up forces the opponent to move in and leave their backyard open to exploit by the leapers. Or if they hang back, moving the cage forward. Either way, you only need to be a few squares into your opponents side to pose a serious threat of hand-off-scoring.

But this does not make them very much diffrent from other mobile teams. They are a bit harder to tie down, and skills like shadowing and diving tackle might se a renaissance. I sure will incorporate some in my DE-team.

As a defender VS slann, them caging up in the middle is OK. The more turns I get to beat them up whilst they have the ball, the better. Its hard to stop a Slann with lucky dice, but you can try to force the odds to your advantage. Getting his players of the pitch is a good start. Sooner or later their RR and their luck will run out. With DE you only need one mistake from the opponent to capitalize that into a lead. And whilst you wait, why not grind him into the dust? Its fun, its useful, its fluffy :)

Yes, frenzyfrogs might be a problem, actually, if Slann plan on doing this halfcage strat much, frenzy would be a great complement on a few players. That will scare of defending the widezone.

PS:
I need to emphasize that that defensive set up was not originally mine. If anyone thought so.

So, as I can see the slan discussion died out a bit. (hope this bribgs it back to life :-)

Just played my first Slan game. It went great (as someone sead - not much you can do against a slan on a lucky day), won 4:0 against a DE. The DE coach doesnt have to much exp, but he plays good (exept he tends to get carried awey whit blocking - which tends to eat his RR quite fast -and that was half of my victory)

I started with 2 Catchers 1 Blitzer and 8 line and 4 RR.
Unfortunatly the one blitzer died in the 5 round of 1st half in a foul (fortunantly the fouler was sent a way as well). I was able to see how usefull he can be (and how usefull, a bunch of them will be in the future) - he was able to get to the ball carrier with relative ease and pose a real threat to the success of the oponents attack. He (my oponent) chose to blitz the slan on one ocasion and to try and dodge out the next round. (dow my oponent succeded in bout his atempts I saw the fear and concerne in his eyes and he needed to use his blitz in this manner, instead of makeing hole in my defence.
Which slowed him down just enogh for me to take the ball from him and score.

OK i head a lot of luck with leaping (and mostly succided in my intent whit a RR).

----------

Ok I'm boreing myself whit this post. This is what I think of the positions.
Line's are great whit the leap ability they do what a good lineman is sopose to do and that is "be in the way", and they also tend to come and helpout in the fight relativly easy to (all thenks to the 3+ leap)
As far as i can see they should get a big number of difrent skills (kick, fend, Wrestle, pass block, Block, Tackle)

Blitzers are the ones that others will fear the most once one gets to buy 2 or 3, amd equips them whit some skills (tackle, strip ball, block seem an obious choice, dow shadowing, jugernaut, franzy could also ad to flavor)

Catchers seem like the most important guys on the ofencive Going fast in straght lines if need be to where they are needed. I'd say one should defenetly have pass block whit these guys, also some dodges. I'd give some of them catch, and sure hands. I wouldn't put wrestle on them (much sooner block)

The fact that no ball is safe from a slan is what makes them a realy great team. The "The offence is the best defence" defence is why this is such a great team to play. This is not only fun but it also makes the oponents rethink his "used to" tactics and think on his feat (which not eweryone is capable of doing realy well - in my experience).

I know i didn't say much new (but i hope at least i sead something to get you start talking about saln again).

---

oh yes one more thing i got a normal skill on my catcher i think i'll take dodge (dow i'd rather take something more fun like pass block for the fun effect)

tnx
