Safe Throw and Interceptions: dice order
A mate of mine pointed out something appropriate with the new LRB6 exp rules "safe throw" change.
Normal passes: roll for pass, roll for intercept.
Safe Throw passes: roll for pass, pass not successful so remains with the thrower. What happens to the interception roll?
In fact, in general, a lot of people do the interception roll before the pass (which is surely wrong? clarify)
In general, can someone help out a very confused BB player and give me the dice roll order for passes, interceptions etc.?
Thanks in advance.

It doesn't matter. The interception roll is made BEFORE the passing roll.
so the order is this:
1. Declare pass.
2. Roll interception.
3. If interception is successful, roll an agility test for the safe throw ability to cancel it out.
4. Assuming the interception failed/was cancelled, make the passing roll as normal.

1. Declare pass.
2. Roll interception.

4. Assuming the interception failed/was cancelled, make the passing roll as normal.

How can you intercept before the ball has been passed? I know it's fluff, but it seems to make more sense the other way.
Plus, then there is the LRB6 potential issue of ball not passed but fumbled so the thrower keeps hold of it...what's the intercept rule there?

Same again, the interception is rolled before other dice. If the interception is passed, then it's a turnover, no need to see if it was an accurate throw.
I know it seems wierd. But then again, this way around the rules are a LOT simpler, as you never have to consider the whole safe throw failure/fumble question.

Thanks for clearing that up...now the final help needed:
LRB6 order:
Intercept: if successful, make the safe throw roll then the pass roll?
This would seem to be where, if that is the order, changing the order should be considered...

Yes, if the safe throw rolls high enough to cancel the interception, then you make the pass as normal.
You may think the order is screwy. But this way, you only need to roll enough dice to see if the ball is intercepted, as opposed to rolling ALL the possible dice, and then applying the result you both agree on.

the new safe throw addition has no effect whatsoever on interceptions.
As per the rules (LRB5.0 AND under the experimental rules), if the interception is successful, then you don't have a chance to fumble the ball. So the new perks of safe throw work with the current passing rules seamlessly.

DPwright has two questions:
1) Is the intercept roll made before the pass roll?
2) When is the safe throw roll made?
This is a bit confusing, as there are now two uses of safe throw, one to prevent fumbles, one to prevent interceptions.
I don't have a LRB on this computer, but I think the order is:
1) roll for intercept
2) roll safe throw to negate intercept (if necessary)
3) roll for pass
4) roll for safe throw to avoid fumble
Now I can't recall if 4) is a roll or not. But I think that's what the original poster is getting at.
