Blitz, wrestle down and continue moving?

Post by Koigokoro »

A player with Wrestle blitzes and takes both down, gets up and continues moving.

This is possible, right?

I would say no:

"The only time a player can stand up is at the beginning of an
Action at a cost of three squares from his movement."

P. 11 LRB

But it wouldnt be a bad idea to be more clear about that in the skill-description of wrestle.

There's something in the rules about once a wrestling player has taken both himself and his opponent down he finishes his turn. (The mini's, not the team's turn).

I don't think that you need to be any clearer than that. It's possible that we need a reference book version of the LRB (which is more of an instruction book than a reference manual, and quite rightly so). But the rule itself is quite clear.

Standing-up is only allowed at the start of a player's turn. So if a player uses wrestle, he cannot stand-up during that team turn.

someone tried to pull that stunt on me too not so long ago and was adamant that as the wrestle rule "... didn't say that he couldn't do it"

he accepted, eventually, the general rule.

a footnote to Wrestle may be helpful

And I'm adamant that the wrestle rule "... doesn't say he can".

Why? Does Wrestle say anywhere it ignores the general rule? No? Then why does it need a footnote that basicaly says "Wrestle folows the same standing up rules as everything else"?

Wrestle doesn't mention that after using it you stand up for free, teleport into the opposing endzone, and get the ball.

But I'm pretty sure that's not how it works either.

We don't add footnotes to the rules when it is ALREADY in the rulebook. Otherwise the rulebook will be 600 pages long.

But if there is a common misinterpretation of rules it might be a good idea. And dont exagureate. It wouldnt be more than 200 pages. :)

Havent had problems with wrestle though.

I've never ever heard of anyone missing the"standing up" rule before, so I find it difficult to believe that it is a common mistake.
