experienced teams in semi-restarted leagues

Post by razorclaws »

Alright

Me and 5 friends have just played a little blood bowl league with a small knockout after. Now we're about to move onto a new season, but a couple of the guys are startiing new teams, and we've persuaded a few other to join in as well. So there'll be me and 3 others with experienced teams, unfortunately mine's the highest at around 180, so i'll be giving away shed loads of inducements, but my team are finally playing the way I love. So should I....

1)Just keep going inducements be damned

2)Cut some of the chaff, and try and reduce my team rating through some judicial sackings

3)Start a New team.

1, always, with maybe a slight nod towards 2 in that you can do a little cost control (13-14 guys instead of 14-15, say, or stop at 3 TRR). Even if it's not the "optimal" decision (it usually is), it's the right one.

What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Despite the inducements you'll still be top team. My advise is to consider whether it is fun for rookie teams to face your TV180 team and base your decision on that.

And I would suggest not.

Not to mention the benefit they'll get from seeing how an experienced coach develops their team.

Put your team in storage and wait for everyone else to catch up.

Agreed... incentives only are designed for a 33% chance at winning and I've never lost a game where I'm 400k+ ahead.... It's just too much to overcome, even with the curse of Nuffle on me....

This is why I started a second team in our local league.

You have rookie players in a league full of rookie teams. I'd make everyone just start new teams. The new players will probably lose early games, but do you want them to be losing largely because of inferior teams. Put your team on the backburner and start a new team (and encourage other experienced coaches to do the same). The league will be better overall.

Ask your league mates whether they want to induce stars or not. Personally I have lost many games as the overdog, simply because morg, the wizard and 2 bloodweiser babes and the other star were enough to get a good break through against my team. The games were a great deal of fun, and even though I lost, I loved seeing the stars take the pitch.

Personally I think that the inducement system works well enough to allow for the set up you are discussing, but like everything else, it means that you have to decide what's fun. For me, I would likely play my overdog team and enjoy the challenge of playing against stars and wizards and the like.

Good luck, whatever you decide !
