Costing Weapons in Options Rules

Post by mattgslater »

I'm looking at Options rules for secret weapons, removing the secret weapon star players and instead listing them as Option players at the expense of rostered players, plus adding more in to compete on other rosters.

For instance, the Orc team would lose its Troll off the roster, and would gain an Option, which could be a Troll or something else, like an Orc with a Chainsaw or a Goblin Fanatic.

So, with the understanding that it replaces a big guy or a couple positionals, how much would you pay for a rostered Orc lineman with Chainsaw, Secret Weapon and No Hands? How does the value change if it's a Dwarf? What about a Dwarf Bombardier?

Two things to note:
1) My houserules would allow 1 SW Merc, but only if the team hadn't already used its Option, plus 1 SW inducement in lieu of a Star Player, at the list player's price as a Merc. This way, no team may have an option (read: big guy) and two secret weapons, and induced secret weapons are prohibitively expensive.
2) Cas from chainsaws, bombs, fouls and just about anything else count for SPPs. So rostered chainsaw players are pretty solid if you have a healthy team.

Again, the question is on costing for rostered SWs on non-Stunty teams.

I'd grab the closest star player. Add up his improvements and divide that value by 2 and subtract from the Star Player cost. Then use that for the cost of the rostered player.

Or use the Gobilns as a comparision for how much they cost compared to a normal Goblin.

Should I adapt the cost to the accelerated improvement schedule?
