Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
He's a lrb6 chaos minotaur, and I loved him so thanks to his block/claw Then he got turn 16 fouled and is now AV7, and 200K of highly suspicious team value.
I think I'll just fire him, I'm dubious enough about minotaurs as it is, but with AV7, dear god!
I have the money to buy a new one, I just don't think i should! 9 beastmen and 4 warriors is probably enough players.
The only reason I'm at all conflicted about it is the fact that he does have block. I figure that against strong teams, he'll go down and be fouled to death, assuming his isn't killed by the block, and against fragile teams, he's 200K of not-doing-much.
Is there any point to keeping him? Retired he'd make a great cheerleader as he's the Heresy Minotaur so the two halves of the human body he's ripped apart look suitably like pom-poms
st6 blitzes with frenzy, you got block, claw and mb
thats a handfall regardless of his AV
the fact he is av7 will also make him more of a target than perhaps another player
the other team being distracted by him is a benefit, and at the end of the day he is still s5 so if they do, they are usually going to be committing more than one player to do so
AV7 is ok on a Mino. If he gets stunned, he only loses half an action, 'cause if he's prone he loses half an action anyway.

I'd say keep him also. Let him be a target, he can take it. Show your opponents that he has a "foul" mood now (due to being fouled, not that you should foul WITH him)...
He's ST5 with Block. The general rule about a Mino or RO with Block is "don't let big guys hit him back and you're golden." AV7 just makes that even more true. Nobody'll throw 1/2-die blocks on him because he has Block and only 4 perms knock him down as opposed to 11 or 20 for the attacker: even with a TRR that sucks Minotaur-#*¢%.
Don't let him get stuck on his own. Maybe use him as a safety, rather than an ILB (this is particularly good if you have a side-stepper so you can do the inverted backfield on that side; then it's just a matter of not letting the big guys through). A well-placed assist can give him a pair of 3d blocks against a designated ST3 receiver should your first turn find the ball deep in the other half; even a Blodger can't handle a 3d Frenzy hit. For this reason, if you have Tackle only on one side, make it the other side from Super Safety.
If he didn't have Block, I'd say can him, but as is, he's just too crazy good to let go. AV7 and Block is tougher than AV8 and no Block, anyways. Nature may take its course, but I'd Apoth him at any time in a match if I didn't have everything I wanted and 150k to spare. Get him MultiBlock next if you see him getting mobbed, and Break Tackle or Tentacles if you find you can keep him on his feet as is.

Making this decision even easier is the Chaos team's easy access to Guard and the hard time you have getting enough Block strewn about. It's one more guy who doesn't need Block, and the fact that he doesn't want Guard but can take it isn't a big deal on this team. Moreover, he reduces the number of Claws CWs you need down to just one (if that, even), so you can have another CW designed as a shock-absorber. It's unfortunate that you can't use him as an ILB (freeing your CWs up to man the line and the other ILB spot), but if you build your line right you should be able to compensate with a Beastman at linebacker.
See one of the many threads on Side Step for the inverted backfield: with a Side Stepper you force your opponent out of the WZ and protect a nickelback in said WZ, but you expose your safety. A Stand Firm/Block CW at end on that side can help, as can a safety who isn't vulnerable to straight-up blitzes from ST3-4 players. Like, oh, say, one with ST5, Block, Frenzy, MB and Claw (don't skull... don't skull...). This also takes a lot of pressure off the ILB on that side, as his position loses its strategic value. This is a good way to compensate for guys you don't care about, on a team like this which needs to assert itself on the LOS.
If you see he's still a magnet, it's easy to counter by putting Guard on the ILB next to the Mino. If people are still trying 1/2d blocks, get Stand Firm, perhaps. That has incidental value as it lets him play the wide zones, but I wouldn't use this guy for crowd-pushing, as he breaks armor 7 times out of 12, and needs all the SPP he can get.

Yeah, seeing as he has block, keep him. If he didn't it would be a different matter.
And mattslater, I'm sure what you're saying is golden, but whilst I can just about guess what a safety is, when you start going on about Canadian rock bands, I do get a little lost...

Having a SS player on your corner (with a zone protecting the sideline) against a team without Grab means that you can stick him in front of the guy next to him, rather than behind. This neighboring player is then no longer a linebacker, as he's not assisting at the point of attack and is not optimally placed to go after the ball, but rather to attack a cage or mark a receiver. This means instead of a 3-4-4 (linemen/backers/backs) formation you're playing 3-3-5. 5 backs = a "nickel" and the 5th guy (the guy you traded a linebacker for) is a "nickelback" (if you have 6 backs, you have two nickels, or a "dime" formation -- I do that sometimes with Pro Elves). He develops like a safety, going for hitter/bog-down/ball-control skills over stuff like Guard and Stand Firm.
