how dose mighty blow work?

Post by Gus_the_hut »

hi there ime new here and have what i think is a realy dumb question.

there has been some dispute as to how the skill mighty blow and dirty player work in my local league .
it is stated on the leagues web site www.hebbl.co.uk as follows.

Mighty Blow et al - any skill which gives you the option to use it on one of two rolls, must always be specified before rolling the dice. If it is not specified, then the roll will be defaulted to the first option. e.g. Mighty Blow allows you to add 1 to the armour or injury roll. If you roll the armour before stating, it is assumed that the modifier is applied to the armour roll.

am i mad in thinking that you should be alowed to pick weather you use it on the armor or injury, after the dice have been rolled?

5. You can choose to use a skill that affects a dice roll after rolling the
dice (e.g. Diving Tackle does not need to be used until after seeing
the result of the Dodge roll).

looks like your league rules have changed the way modifiers work in Bloodbowl.

By the rules, you can use any modifier after seeing the die roll...you do not have to declare to use a skill prior to rolling the dice.

yes, it is very much in favour of those rolling the dice...
Which version are you playing locally, sounds like a variant of 3rd.

no it is the current version of the living rulebook.

and i dont think it is a league rule, it is simply the way they think the rule works.

They have understood the rule wrong if that is the case.

You roll first and then decide to use a skill.

So for Mighty Blow ... you only use the skill if you need it to break the AV of the player (after seeing what you rolled) ... otherwise you save it to use on the injury.

Hi,

I just recently started playing bb, and I also have a question about mighty blow: assume my player has mighty blow and piling on. How do these two work together? Say I get through my opponents armour without mb, and I'm not satisfied with the injury roll. Can I then re-roll the injury roll with piling on and use mighty blow on that second injury roll or can I only use mb on the original injury roll?

The reason I'm asking this: I'm playing in a league now and I have an orc blitzer with mb. I'm considering to take piling on as the second skill on that blitzer.

A re-roll use is a re-roll of the same dice with all the same modifiers.

So because you could use mighty blow on the first injury roll, you also can use it on the re-rolled one.
