Mutation on a Norse Runner.

Post by Ikterus »

So I won a free mutation, Chaos Cup-style.

The Runner is fairly developed and has (so far) been used as a scorer.

Skills: Block, Dauntless, Dodge, Side Step (24 SPP)

My first thought was Extra Arms... Norse need ballhandlers...

But then I thought cage breaker = Two Heads

And then I read a lot of praise for Hypnotic Gaze (at AG 3 but still)

Stab? Nah. Claws? Maybe...

What should I pick?

well 2 heads will give you dodging on 2s so thats a good choice. another one is big hand for picking the ball up after its been knocked out the opposing ball carriers hands.

I like Dauntless/Claws... easier to get 'em down and keep 'em down, taking him outta the scoring role and into the destroyer roll... one doubles away from Mighty Blow....

Blodge/Dauntless/Claw/Side Step = Ultimate Big Guy/BOB killer. Those big, slow, bashy guys never have Tackle.

If not, then Two Heads, to get an elf-dodge.

Claw would be very nice, though it's not like Norse lack any bash.

Extra Arms would probably be my default choice, but if you're facing alot of mean opposition then Claw might be more useful.

Just a shame one of your Berzerkers or Ulfwereners didn't get the roll...

My thoughts exactly.

Berz: Frenzy, Block, Claw and Mighty Blow on a regular roll.

In the Ulfs S4, Frenzy, Claw and MB+Block on regular rolls.

Yummy.

@ stashman: Regen is useful but it is a passive skill and quite dull...

@ ian/matt/digger/andro: Claw is nice and very useful. I face a lot of AV9 (several orcs, one dwarf) teams. With the Snow Troll it makes two players to fear for them...

AG 3 is already quite enough for ball handling...

No-one pushes for Hypnotic Gaze? with so many frenzys I thought someone would think that HG would be useful...

Right now my favourite candidates are HG, Two Heads and Claw...

Hmm...

HG on AG3 isn't very reliable. Better suited to Elves, really.

The more I think about it the more I think Claw. Having another player able to rip BGs to shreds will be handy against many teams.

Yep. And it will be fun to model too.

It's the bald guy... I was thinking a Genestealer hand... Or maybe some Wolverine/Freddy Kruger-style fingerblades?

Actually, the Catcher arm on the original GW Norse player was a pretty good Claw for Norse. If I were going to model one, I'd turn one of his hands into a big furry werewolf-claw or a bear paw. Or cut the hand off and replace it with a hook (à la Peter Pan), chainsaw (à la Evil Dead) or a hedge-trimmer (à la Edward Scissorhands).

Those are plastics with separate legs, right? While you're reworking this guy, you might want to reposition him so that he looks more grounded, ready to put some oomph behind a pop with the claws, and less like he's making a dive.

If it's any help, btw, when you watch someone run, you'll see that if they use their hands a lot, their forward arm will tend to be the opposite the forward leg (big exception: right before making a block).
