First Skill On Storm Vermin

Post by Maedhros »

What do you think is the best choice? Right now I'm looking at either Mighty Blow or Pro. Which one is more important? Are there any oither skills I should look at?

My team is pretty new, 3 games played. The other teams are High Elves, Amazons, Chaos and Goblins. I don't know how this affects things. Well maybe Tackle could be a good choice.

Anyways, thanks for your feedback.

Dodge, to keep him upright more?

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

GUARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those GRs need all the help they can get and you don't want two opponents getting downfield, one canceling the SV TZ, and putting a 2d on your ball carrier....

I think i would have taken tackle considering you are playing against 2 dodge teams + high elves.
If there had been more bashing teams like chaos i would probably have chosen guard instead.

Tackle! you're playing against three dodge teams, and in two of them the whole team has dodge (amazon and goblin).

Just like everyone else said: Tackle all the way... both my SV advanced identically for their first 2 skills: Tackle, Mighty Blow. One of them now has Guard, but anyway...

With the league you're in, Tackle. Get Guard in a little while, you will need it.

Guard, without reservation. Get tackle on linerats and use them to hunt down dodgy types. You have very little access to strength skills and your linerat doubles are less likely to be spent on guard as they are on mutations. Storm Vermin are the only players with AV8 so they're best used in situations where you need to have someone go toe to toe.

Guard/Tackle. If your linerats have tackle already, go with guard. It sounds like you need tackle to win much of anything in this league, so work on developing a tackle/mighty blow player to blitz with every turn.

I ended up choosing guard for my Storm Vermin. In my league the two toughest teams for my Skaven to beat are Chaos and High Elves. Hopefully Guard will help me avoid so much death against Chaos and let me push around the Elves.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Hmmm... now on to the next problem. Gutter Runner with Block got a new skill. Pro? Strip Ball? Side Step? Leap?

I'm starting to get the feeling I should just let you guys pick all my skills. :smoking:

Depending on how many rerolls you have, Catch or Sure Hands could be your best friend. Like others on this forum have said, don't try to develop a one turn scorer unless you get a movement or mutation early. Having a ballhawking gutter runner who can pick up the ball is always a good thing, and you can have your other players worry about knocking it loose. Kick is an important skill for Skaven as well.

My preferred skill progression for GRs (with no doubles) is block, sidestep, shadowing. Sometimes I reverse the order of the last two.

Doubles I get dauntless, then strip ball on a standard roll or horns on another double.

Other stuff depends on what teams are in the league and what stat increases I roll. With those skills, though, I'm generally using the shadowing/sidestepping boys for backfield harrassment and the dauntless types as turnover blitzers.
