Ideas for buffing haflings? Round 4: Proposal
Hi all,
I need ideas for buffing the halfling team (beyond what LRB5+ did).
This is not a thread for discussing whether a buff is appropriate - this a thread to come up with ideas for buffs that a league could use, if said league had already decided that they wanted to do a buff.
Also note that this a thread looking for a buff - not a complete overhaul: Not an overhaul of the team and not a change to the core rules of the game. Cute as those may seem, they've got almost no chance of being accepted by actual leagues.
Round 3 - Polling
Right, I've reduced the list to the most popular options. Gentlemen, pick your favourite.

* Sure feet grants a +1 to landing rolls for 'fling that's been thrown (a reroll is probably to strong).
* Each 'fling who is adjacent to a prone treeman and not in an opposition tackle zone may add a +1 to the treeman's attempt to standup.
* The halfling chef inducement also gives a +1 to halfing KO rolls.
* Thick skull on all flings for free (doesn't really make too much of difference except for a small chance that they'll stay on the pitch a little longer).
* Halfling Chef inducement allows all 'flings to win the opening coin toss (opponents are too distracted to witness sleight of hand with the coin).
* Wandering Apothecaries can be hired for a small discount by halflings (less to fix).
* Make more 'fling starplayers to fulfil positional roles like thrower, blitzer, catcher.

We gave them barmaids at the border Brawl. Every Barmaid you bought got you a +1 on the Stealing Rerolls Roll at the start of each half. Of course you can only get two of them. I think the price was the same as the Halfling Chef.

I remember Atropabelladonna posting a halfling "blitzer" (sous-chef) with stab.
Personally, I'd like to see the Master Chef more reliable (not better, just more reliable) - say, works an 2+, but you only get 2 dice.
Also, I'd like to see halflings able to induce a full priced master chef in addition to the bargain one they get. If halflings are down by 35, they could need the extra help.
Cheers
Martin

Some Halfling positional concepts off the top:
Blitzer: 6/2/3/7 Dauntless, Dodge, Right Stuff, Stunty, GA, 70k
Catcher: 6/2/3/6 Diving Catch, Dodge, Nerves of Steel, Right Stuff, Stunty, A, 60k
Thrower: 5/2/3/6 Dodge, Pass, Right Stuff, Strong Arm, Stunty, AP 60k

My options rules don't take out a positional for Halflings: they just allow an extra option, including as one option 0-2 Human Linemen at 100k each. This gives them easy access to two of the following: a player who can take SH and KOR, a blitzer project, or a comparatively tough (if overpriced) piece of line fodder. I really like the idea of a Stab "Sous-Chef" model as an option: I think I'll adapt that.
Comme ça?
0-2 Sous-Chef 6/2/3/6 Dodge, Shadowing, Stab, Stunty, A, 60k?
Alternately, you could let them roster a MC for its inducement value. That would only matter if they were somehow the overdog or equal.

Martin, it would help if you said exactly how much of a "buff" you're looking for. Are you trying to make them a solid teir 1 team (in which case you're looking at probably 3+ ideas from this thread), or a tier 2 team (in which case probably just 1 or 2), or equal to the other tier 3 teams (in which case I'd argue they don't need a buff)?

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Then double the price.Jural wrote:They could also induce one, much like the rostered and induced apothecary.mattgslater wrote: Alternately, you could let them roster a MC for its inducement value. That would only matter if they were somehow the overdog or equal.
