Show me the money... I guess it would be worth a try, at least for one match. Send me your credit card details, and I'll let you know how it went :D

It's amazing how cheap some people sell off their belief structures and public statements. It also saddens me at how abused the English language is these days with statements such as "NOTHING would make me.....".

Dude, you should have gone higher $$$. I think I will be keeping my credit card thank you very much.

Ok... rephrase.

Nothing WILL make me play the current Amazons.

Does getting rid of the modal verb fix this sentence? It now deals with actualities, rather than (remote) possibilities.

My emphasis and overstatement was actually intended to show my dislike for the current Amazon roster, but I obviously wasn't clear enough. My cheap belief structures and I will try not to abuse the English language too much more, for fear of causing offence.

Oh, and Pug: "Digital Pimp" is really very funny

It is a much needed injection of personality, and actually makes me feel like this team would be cool to play.

NOTHING will make me play the current (dull) Amazon team.
One begs to differ with you, old bean!

True enough, the current Amazon roster has a single stat line throughout - but it is the positional players, their skill access and how they develop that differentiates them and differentiates them well. The only time they appear "boring" is to those who love to see lots of different numbers

All this conversation about how dumb their roster is makes me want to play Amazons.

Try running them in a large (ish) open format, especially one which has low (ish) TV capped tournaments. Then think about some of the lame but very effective tricks you can do with the team.

12-week fixed season, with a double-elim tournament afterwards. Small league of 6 teams, don't know what they'll be, but if I'm 'Zons, at least one of them will be Dwarfs, and given the number of finesse coaches in our new pool, I'd likely end up in the bash division.

This is starting to sound fun.

@ Lucifer: I like to see lots of different numbers :D

The current roster simply doesn't inspire me, whereas Ian's sparks my interest.

How about making the Amazon a bit off a dirty rugby stylish play!

0-16 Linewomen 6337 Wrestle GA/SP 50k
0-2 Throwers 6337 Hail Mary Pass, Accurate, Kick GAP/S 70k
0-4 Catchers 8337 Diving Catch, Dodge GA/SP 80k
0-4 Blitzers 7337 Wrestle, Grab, Fend GAS/P 90k

This team is all new in its style. Wrestle is making up when facing heavy block hitting teams (like dwarfs etc.). The thrower is something of a kicker (hail mary and kick is fluffy). Catchers are great, but still AG3 and AV7 so I think we can use a 8337 player. The blitzers have fend instaed of dodge and then added Grab to make new gaming style, like throwing away the opponent. Maybe change either the blitzers or the catchers to 0-2.

What do you think?

I do like the idea of a rugby style team - but I don't see 'zons as it. The rugby concept I had also had lots of dump off.

Wrestle on the linewomen just seems a bit too Norse... Also for 50k you are giving good value for the Ag access & very good starting skill. That's why, IMO, Fend works better - because its not a brilliant skill but you've got more potential.

Throwers won't really pass the ball without pass or catch on the receivers. Swap Accurate for Pass and it would be okay.

Those catchers are badly underpriced. That's probably 100k player on the team, if not 110k.

I really don't like the blitzers starting with 3 skills. I'd much prefer 1 or 2 and a better stat line.

Overall that team is way too good too.

The wrestle linewoman concept works a bit better if you drop general access. That way the team might gain some of the powerful agility skills but it is also defined by a lack of utility skills like kick, tackle, and strip ball.
