SPP's for Throw team mate Completion

Post by Nightbird »

Does a Big Guy get SPP's for completing a throw-team-mate pass? If not what is the reasoning for this?

No you don't.
The rules for SPP for throwing were made while the big guys with TTM only were star players so they didn't need the SPP.
That's why you don't get any SPP for TTM.

In my league we have a house rule that gives SPP for TTM in the same way as a normal pass. But if you throw a long pass (the longest range) you'll get two SPP. It works great.

Why would you get SPPs for lobbing someone over the line? If anything, the little guy should get SPPs for landing on his feet after such a horrendous throw. Big guys bash. TTM is not in their job description, it's just something they happen to be able to do. Not very well, but they can. They should never receive SPPs for it, no matter how tough it is to pull off.

We have been playing, if the pass is accurate and the little dude lands, it is a completion, therfore the big dumb ass gets an SPP.

Thanks for the opinions! We are going to adopt that TTM completions give SPP's just as a completed pass, after all it is a passing action. It takes up your passing action for that turn and because of this, if it is completed, it should be recognized.

The rule for SPPs states that the pass must be accurate AND completed. Don't forget that, at the very least.

Snots,

I would probably argue that if the little dude lands, then it is a COMPLETION, thus a completed pass.

Why? If the arguement is that TTM takes the place of the Pass action, why would you propose to have a different set of rules for awarding SPPs for it and a pass? I'd go with the tried and true formula. Definately don't reward him for flubbing the throw, even if the little guy pulls it out with a 6.

My league actually had a long discussion about this and wound up asking Andy Hall. If the stunty being thrown has the ball, is thrown accurately and lands correctly it is a completion.

I'd buy that. Theoretically he threw the ball. It was accurate and the successful landing made it a completion.

Snots, I just assumed that you understood the stunty had the ball. I wasn't saying that you should get spp's for just throwing a stunty altogether. That's crazy. Anyway since we have Andy Halls opinion on the subject, case closed. Thanks all for the input.

The original question did look like it was being proposed for all TTM actions. That's only a small step from reality no, too. I didn't want to assume anything. I just wanted to understand what you were proposing. I tried to think it out as clearly and simply as I could. I wasn't trying to attack the idea, I just wanted to see all sides of it. You have Andy's blessing and you're going to go with it. That's great. Commissioners make rulings like this all the time and they're fine.

I still don't really like it but I can see and understand it. Our league might use a different ruling and I think that's fine too.
