Although you started with 2nd title idea, (and you cant change rules half way, as has been said) I think this is a good example of learning as we go and personally, I think thats a really good idea for next year Geoff.

We are only half way through of course for 09.

Well mate, I'm glad someone is listening to what I actually said and not reading it as "I want to change how the current one works for my own benefit" (mind you, from the motley collection of Mark Owen, Gangleshanks and Ming the Merciless I shouldn't have expected much more :roll: ).

As long as they are known in advance and don't change, I'm happy with any (sensible) rules. :wink:

Geoff's suggestion has a few small knock-on effects though:

a) It favours coaches who own several teams. This requires more financial investment. You don't just need to own 3, you need to own 3 of the 6 or 7 "power" races.

b) It favours coaches who go to more tournaments (more so even than now). At the moment you need to play 3 tournaments to qualify. Placing high in 3 tournaments with 3 different teams is harder than placing high in 3 of 8 tournaments with (say) 4 different teams.

c) If favours coaches who do well at tournaments early in the year, e.g. Poo Bowl, Watermonkey. Everyone has a favourite race that they expect to do better with. As a purely hypothetical example, some coaches do well with powergaming teams like Amazons, but dreadfully with High Elves or Khemri. :wink: Get a good score with your favourite race early on and you have "one in the bank" and can start experimenting with other races.

But overall I like what Geoff is getting at. Not sure it is perfect in execution yet. Maybe saying that a coach can't have all three results with the same race would be in the middle ground?

=====

As an aside, how about a UK Stunty Champion for next year? Same system as this, except that only Stunty teams count. :D

it is easy enough to borrow a team if you really wanted to

it already favours someone or goes to more tournaments

it is harder to do well in 3 tournaments using different races

it is best to start a point with the word it

Loving the needle between these two! :lol:

The simplicity of the current system works fine for me. I don’t see any need to change it. At the moment the best player is at the top, if that’s what the aim of the UKC is then it’s working great.

The NAF rankings allow one player to rise to great heights by taking a single powergaming race (regardless of results with other races). Never heard Porritt suggest we change that... ;) :wink:

If we were counting this for this year, I reckon Sir Pugsley would be winning with 118. :D .
