OBBLM v. 0.75 (Online Blood Bowl League Manager)

Post by nicholasmr »

Image

What is it?
OBBLM is a free open source Blood Bowl league web-manager.
OBBLM generates stats, tournaments, team rosters and much more by simply submitting match data after each played match.

What's (mainly) new in 0.75
- Heavily improved statistics subsystem, cross-reference stats now available.
- BOTOCS support (thanks to funnyfingers).
- New CSS menu system.
- The data separation layers "divisions" and "leagues" are fully implemented.
- Registration/sign-up feature added (thanks to funnyfingers).
- Improved race statistics.
- Simpler match scheduling system added.

Upgrading
See the INSTALL file in the download.

Example of 0.75

OBBLM portal with BOTOCS (java app.)
Thanks to William (aka. funnyfingers) the OBBLM portal http://www.stuntyleeg.com/ is now operational. I would recommend stopping by and playing a few games!
If nothing else it will give you a chance to try out OBBLM properly before using it yourself.

Excellent! Is it easy to upgrade from a previous version? I'm running an adjusted 0.37.

Yes it is.
As it says in the install file, simply replace all the obblm files and run the SQL commands (in phpmyadmin, or whatever you prefer) from the install file under the "0.37->0.38" section.
And yes, it should have said "0.37->0.7" by the way. It's just a typo from my side - we decided to skip a bunch of version numbers.

good stuff,

still isn't an option in the match report for bonus points to be added for odd scoring systems though?

I see there is a sportsmanship box, something like that but which adds to the points total instead is exactly what I'm after

What web-hosts do people use for their OBBLM pages? Any recommendations for a cheapskate?

For UK based (which will load a bit quicker but barely noticeable)

http://my.vidahost.com/aff.php?aff=199

For US based which is usually cheaper but may affect loading times

awesome got our points system working thanks to the new sportsmanship option

Just a little tip for people posting new messages on the front page either as admin or from team news

if you want paragraphs then you need to put html tags in

Code: Select all

<p>this is what you need to use for a paragraph</p>

and to just go to the next line down you put the following at the end of the line<br />
hope that makes sense, will stop all your formatting in the input boxes from disappearing and just following on in one long paragraph, may want to pass this info onto your league mates

What size are your sites, generally? How much webspace would I need to get?

sites are usually really small

its pictures sound files and movie files that take up space

our league directory on my hosting takes up under 14meg for instance

that is the size of one photo from my digital SLR camera in raw format

standard smaller res photos in jpg will be a lot smaller

Well that really depends on the number of teams.
Lahatiel's site (http://www.fabbl.net/tracker/) has quite many teams, which I guess would require over 50mb if each team uploaded pictures of players and such.
