Where is the proper placement of the Scatter Template?

Post by whiskey tango foxtrot »

Please forgive me if this has been posted before -- I've done a couple searches but can't seem to locate it.

Where on the board is the proper placement for the Scatter template?

Is it always clockwise when you (your side of the table needs to roll it), then reverts the same to the other player?

Is set off the side of the board and that's always the direction for the game?

I'm a newbie, and I'd appreciate any help from the community.

Thanks

it doesn't matter which way around it is

you can change it every time you use it if you really wanted to, as long as the direction is set before you roll the dice it won't matter

fwiw I never even use it now, we just assume it is in the same orientation as the score tracker is on the board (I mention this to my opponent at the start of the game or before the first scatter is rolled (usually for kickoff))

ie:

Code: Select all

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 <--- score tracker
. 1 2 3 <--- assumed imaginary direction of scatter template
. 4 . 5
. 6 7 8

Thanks for the reply.

I've played that way too -- at the set up, both sides agree to the template set, and away you go.

I was just wondering if there was an "official" direction to it.

We are always changing it on the fly, as long as it is set before the dice are rolled.

No, there's no official direction - just set it up however you and your opponent like. As long as it's clear before the dice are rolled, it's all good.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

I always set it up to the side in a certain way... and all but this one past coach let's it ride... he always picks it up and slaps it down another certain way... which always gets a raised eyebrow, from me, but since it doesn't matter which way it goes (indeed it could be spun and squared each time used) I always let it ride....

Agreed but I'm often surprised by the quizzical looks this generates.
