Our LRB5e tabletop league is toying with the idea of creating our own star players from existing players who have retired from teams for any reason (other than death, of course, unless they were dead to start with).
I've been playing with a pricing formula and have come up with the following:
1. Start with the base cost for the player (e.g. 50,000 if he's a human lineman)
2. Add 30,000 for being a merc/star
3. Additions
a) Add 50,000 for each normal skill
b) Add 70,000 for each double skill
c) Add 30,000 for +MA or +AV
d) Add 40,000 for +AG
e) Add 50,000 for +ST
4. Deductions
a) Deduct 25,000 for -ST
b) Deduct 20,000 for -AG
c) Deduct 15,000 for -MA or -AV
d) Deduct 5,000 for each niggle
I know that these costs work out more expensive than existing stars but this is more an "added flavour" thing than trying to undermine the existing star system.
What I'm wondering - before I spend much more time tinkering - is whether anyone else has already done this with a tried and proven pricing formula?

Easiest method I can think of.... construct them from their equivalent rostered positions and then multiply by 33% since inducements are supposed to be 33% more expensive than rostered players.
I'd take away the cost of a doubles skill in exchange for loner or secret weapon, add on a doubles skill for any skill which is normally unobtainable, and add on a double skill for any negatraits which are lost. While this wont be exact it should give you a decent enough estimate which is unlikely to be too generous. All the normal star players seem to have prices that roughly correlate to this formula.
Also: all the elvish star players should be cheaper for no apparent reason

You could still "construct" them. There are a few Star Player rules you'd have to obey, such as no Pro (players with Loner cannot have Pro; you can remove a negatrait or add a suitable reroll skill instead, though). Also, adding a fluff skill is a good idea (like we have a Goblin team with a large werewolf-like mini standing in for one of the Trolls, you could make that player a giant werewolf when you turn it into a Star Player, just replace Really Stupid with Wild Animal..).
