Like roaches on rotting corpses... the Fighting Ankle Biters acted like they owned the Asylum.... How does one get rid of a pest(ilence) when no one else is willing to be infected and you can't exactly up and leave the mansion...? You call in the Manor boys!

FAME to the Manor and kick choice to Biters with them choosing to kick away! The game began on a promising note, with the first block by Bone Hellsting resulting in a dead halfling (that's 1 cockroach!).... Fangtastic Jr. would sprint around, get knocked down and Jumpin' Jack Flash would have to come to the rescue, after key guard blocks and a blitz by Famine, Hank Haunt and Jr.... 1-0....
The elflings (Ag4 stunties... sheesh!) would try a one-turner and actually wind up drifting back on a short throw and have to retreat to a tree... but not far enough and wolf-blitzes would knock the little booger back and knock away the ball.... End half 1-0 for the Manor....
2nd half and the insects one-turn between the Weres.... *sigh*.... Next kick receipt would go screwy, with a pooch landing in Botulism's (zombie) massive mitts!!!! He promptly turned around (thank Nuffle he was not in a tackle zone) trundled over to make a hand-off to Scary Hairy, who followed a Terror blitz down the sidelines.... The sure-foots would surround Hairy and push him against the sideline... but the pushes (and downs) came back with all manner of positionals and zombies kickin' in.... Hairy steps on the final bug and successfully stretches into the endzone.... 2-1....
Kick is a beautiful skill and Pestilence booted the ball in a good area and the Biters couldn't quite one turn, but set up for a two-turner! Trying to impress, a non-descript J-zed took a 2d6 against and double-downed the nearest tree!!!! The little twits switched field to the other tree and the ball carrier couldn't move after the throw.... He was the 3St/4Ag wonder and he was away from the nearest Were... but not quite.... One gfi and a single die blitz downed the incredible half-pint... PERMANENTLY.... Even the Biter's Apothecary couldn't help ("66" followed by... "66"! ).... Bone Hellsting would sprint back, and away with the ball... eventually scoring through a little (heh... "little") traffic on the last turn of the game.... 3-1....
On the other side of the field, Mr. Fangtastic Jr. would get his first points with a casualty of a rookie 'fling....
+1FF; 70k winnings; Hank Haunt would get the MVP; Bone Hellsting would skill up with a pending "6+4" roll....

Retire him and buy a "fresh" ghoul. You have the cash anyway.
Dunno for skills, I'm torn between AV and Block. I'd probably go for block, but then, MA is nice also and will make it a tad easier to score the next TD...
KO-return ? To make sure you can get the ball, hand off to the new ghoul in town, and score with that one.
Heh, no idea.

Definitely would go for KOR if it wasn't a stat increase... still thinkin' 'bout it.... And I barely have the cash for another ghoul... I'm inclined to let "Flash" meet his glory/doom on his own terms....

Been on the cheap, sometimes, trying to branch out into Nurgle ever since I saw this pic of Hordes Incubi:

That will take care of the Rotters quite nicely....
I'll no doubt use pestigors for pestigors... so, on to Chaos Warriors.... Quite frankly, I'm put off by "knights in blight satin", so went looking for mutations and so far have found this babe who's on her way (via ebay):

and these two gents:

and a primed "Bon-Bon" (this painted pic by "ChaosButcher"):

One more mutated "Chaos Warrior" and I'm set....
Team name: The Gravely Ill
***********************
On the Home(ier) Front: started an attempt to get my Void Spirit/Wight to look "something" like the stock photo.... I'm starting out dark and attempting to wash/shade up... we'll see.... Provided the sale of old kit goes well, a fine gent has offered me a serviceable camera at a good price and maybe I can FINALLY get some pics up.... I will surely be embarrassed and incomparable to you real fine artists out there, but they'll be fieldable.... Thanks, again, to everyone that's making an Old Necromancer's Nightmares come true!

Received the Slaanesh chick today and, aside from being a little small, is quite, quite serviceable! One or two upgrades and she'll be "clawing" her way through opposing players.... I'll put her base on a 30mm base and it'll all be fine....
Also in are the Incubi... wow... my only worry about them being too tall turned out to be mistaken... even with incubi bursting from their bodies... they are still excellently proportional in size and height.... The spawning vessel is even better than the GW dark elves blood bath/vessel... and the Coven with Egregore... will get my knocked out undead "juiced" up!
Privateer Press has done themselves proud!

The Return of "THE BOX"
Years ago, inspired by Chinese puzzle boxes and other toys, I built a "dust-free" display case made of six 1 foot x 1 foot sections of plywood (pre-cut).... Laid out, it looks like this:

The edges aren't truly beveled... it just looks better this way.... The second pic is with all but the South Side closed....
At the time I made it for Orcs... and eventually put it aside after minimal interior enhancement.... On the outside, I attached hinges and hook latches in a way that the layout transports as a cube! When "cubed", dust does not enter and keeps the dioramas clean....
I had installed a scratch-made dice tower (made out of 6" rulers) and placed a foam-core building on the central board to use as a hospital.... A few figs were "Tacky" glued down... and they at least proved that the substance would be semi-permanent, even if the figs are attached to a verticle plane....
Having switched to Necromancer, I left The Box in the basement for years.... Every once in a while it would call out to me from under a stack of books, till today... when I resurrected it... took off the few Orcs... and began to revitalize a grand idea! Still sturdy as a rock!!!!
If anyone remembers the foamcore GW graveyard, I attached that to the West Wing... so the Central and West Wing have a Hospital and Graveyard.... The East Wing I'm reserving for "Ded Turner" and his court.... The South Wing I haven't scoped out yet... but it will probably have a "dugout" design.... The overall cube design is such that I can just open the South Wing and use it as a dugout and dice tower, without having to lay out the whole box.... The Far North Wing lays down on the North Wing when in total display mode... so I don't have to worry bout it.... The Far North Wing becomes the top of the box when closed....
Soon as the camera man ships me my new toy, I'll get pics on this thread....

I was hoping my 1700th TBB post would be full of winning and mirth... we started the ABLE ladder league today... and I got in two games....
I was given "The Hardware Tour of Blood Bowl": Nailed/Hammered, Screwed like a Light Bulb; Painted Red; Beat like an Old Steel Drum; Treated like Cheap Metal....
I kid you not: both games started with Double Skulls... and it got worse....
100 vs 100 rating game, fresh Necros (restarted the Gravely Repulsed) vs Dwarves (Greyhounds).... The best that can be said is I got off with a MNG, -1Ag Zombie.... Lost the game 0-1... had one chance at scoring and the ghoul fell down.... Funny thing, we both forgot about Tackle... didn't matter... rolled a 2 followed by a 1.... Ubiquitous Block rules the schools....
Repulsed now at 84 rating vs 100 rated Orcs... me with one J-zed.... Same story... severe beating.... Whole game I spent trying to overcome massive orc advantage in numbers.... Every turn half my team was on the ground... and finally 4 in Knock Out... 2 injured (not counting the two DEAD werewolves
that miraculously regenned
and one player pushed out of bounds into reserves.... 0-1 final, again, and I lost a zombie to a smashed collarbone! Back to the graveyard with him.... Between the two games I received 100k in winnings, so will get the second ghoul and play another J-zed in game 3....
Could've been worse... but doesn't feel that way.... Lost 31 points of rating in ONE day...
... ah, well....
Best news is we might've picked up a couple of new coaches!!!!
Time to "re-tool"....

Put in the work this morning!!!!
Big updates on the team website and mated the "teleportable dugout system" to The Box by placing the four mini-dioramas onto the south wall... necessitating the adjustment of the graveyard: hurray for "Tacky" glue! as it dries to a thin, rubbery consistency and can be cut with a knife

Thinking "inside The Box" is challenging, but it is looking tres-cool....

Z2 = Guard
F2 = Guard
W1 = Blodge
F1 = Set up there is dependant on L3 and their St
It's been 2 months since I last used my Necro and I am sure I have set this up wrong (probably because some details are dependant on what and who I am facing) but from here:
F2 parks himself on the SE corner of P2 and 4. Z3 and 1 eat their opponents face. Z2 parks on B2, F1 makes friends with B3. W2 Blitzes P2 between sidelines and F2 then stands NW of P4.
Y's and G's move up protecting whomever has the ball.
Depending on how the ball scatters, W1 fills gaps if Ball Carrier is exposed (on occassion has to collect the ball) or otherwise roams free trying to distract the coach, hopefully runs into the back field to mess things up but this is merely the core concept of what my team does. By the end of turn 3 I should have a wall of decaying flesh creating a corridor down the right side, opponent will hopefully be down 2 players at this stage, I'll have a Ghoul within hand off distance the ball carrier in case things go wrong and/or be in open space with the other WW if I feel like or have to pass if things go wrong.
There are a few teams that make this harder then it has to be but they also have different set ups.
Like I said this is merely the basic concept of what I have been doing to have a pretty solid team so far.
I can't for the life of me remember what I did before I got Guard

No need to apologize.... Lictor references Necromancer Offensive Set Up Thread continued here:
Necro Strong Cage:

z=zombie, Gl=ghoul, Fg=Flesh Golem, Wt=Wight, Ww=Werewolf
... as it has the capacity to flow to either side.... Undoubtedly, your's looks to make better penetration than mine, on turn one, but that open side is real scary... and not in a good way.... A tad risky: I prefer my ghouls up one more square....
I'm not necessarily following your Letter Designators.... F=Flesh Golem, Z=Zombie, W=Werewolf, Y=Wight, G=Ghoul; L=Defending Lineman, B=Defending Blitzer, S=Defending Safety, P=?... are these basically correct? If so, and even if not, this is a weighted setup and it has its advantages.... The two things I fear, here, are a "Blitz" and the kick skill.... B1, P1, P3, (and depending on speed) B2 and S1 are going to overpower W1.... That's why I initially suggested:Lictor wrote:Code: Select all

I think we would have a real interesting Necro V Necro game. I do play aggressively and as a result Blitz tends to make things incredibly awkward for me. I do make some changes if a player has the Kick skill (but I am incredibly surprised at how few coaches take Kick, my Necro team is the only team without it, yet).
Since you play more conservatively (it seems) be good to see which tactic is stronger for Necro. In saying that I have maybe only played 18 games with Necro including some fool around games, 12 of those have been league games, so your experience will likely pip me
but I love this game and this team.
P=positional (of some variety)
The lone wolf works as a distraction. Coaches know to target Wolves and Ghouls, since Ghouls are squishier I give them a fast wolf to play with FAR and AWAY from the ball so they hopefully waste blitzes and defenders on getting a Cas where it doesn't matter so much. Nuffle knows you can't ignore him.
Of course it sucks when they succeed, and more so when they succeed early but every blitz not on the ball carrier or to stop the running play is a blitz that helps me score.
