LRB 5 - Dauntless vs. Ogre blocking

Post by Mr. Nuffle »

If an ogre blocks a Trollslayer - Can the trollslayer use Dauntless.

Not 100% clear in the book - - Since it says "When you throw a block".

No, you can only use dauntless when the player using the skill initiates the block. "You" in that statement is the player with question. When the Ogre blocks him, he is not throwing the block therefore he cannot use the skill.

No. Because the Ogre is throwing the block.

Various folks have put forward the suggestion that Dauntless works either way - what are folks thoughts on how good it would be? (Has anyone played this as a house rule?)

Once again Mo's Marauders clear the field. Can anyone stop them? This reporter doesn't think so!

IIRC Dauntless 2 worked that way, back when some skills stacked. Don't know if that was ever official, but I've read the rules on some file from blood-bowl.net. So it has been at least playtested, if not actually made official, and it isn't in the game now, from which I infer that it's "too good".

It would be one of the best skills in the game if Dauntless also worked when being blocked. However, a second skill to cover this use has always been interesting to me... I think it is considered to be overpowered- I have never tested it.

I think there is a double dauntless skill on MBBL2 that does that, but i'm not sure.
