-1 av or niggling on a bull centaur?

In my last game one of my bull centaur got a -1 av injury and the apo roll was a niggling (sucks!)

Which one would you take? Feel free to explain your choice

It's in a league and he only has the dodge skill.

Niggle is no big deal. -AV really sucks.

If the bull has got only one skill, retire him and take a new one. Otherwise, nigling is "better" than -av.

-AV is not good but it's my choice

Niggling really sucks when claw, mighty blow, dirty player kicks in!

To roll an AV result you have to go down with the bull.

Once the bull is down, niggling sucks big time - on a foul with some boyz around and a dirty player it's good bye (knocked or injured easier)

Claw - so what if you have AV9

Your choice, of course... but let's see what we're dealing with:

Av9 breaks on 10-12 = 6/36 = 1/6 times he goes down....
With that niggle, he's injured on 9-12 = 10/36 = 5/18 times....
1/6 * 5/18 = 5/108 = 4.6% of the time....

Vs Claw: breaks 15/36 = 5/12 times....
With niggle = 5/12 * 5/18 = 25/216 = 11.6% of the time....

Av8 breaks on 9-12 = 10/36 = 5/18 times....
No niggle he's injured on a 10-12 = 1/6 times....
4.6% of the time... same as Av9 with niggle for injury....

Vs Claw = 5/12 * 1/6 = 5/72 = 7%

Hey! You're right!!! Minus armor IS better than the niggle vs Claws and same otherwise....

Good choice....

Except there's also stuns & knockouts to consider.. Which are worse with -AV.

niggle/TS: Break AV 0,16 Stun 0,09 KO: 0,023 CAS: 0,046
-AV/TS: Break AV: 0,27 Stun 0,20 KO: 0,04 CAS: 0,046

My CD experience- Your Bull Centaurs face the best, most developed hitters from the other sides. But they are quite durable. This means that you should probably keep him pristine, so when you can afford it, retire him.

However, in the meantime a Niggler is better if you don't have too many claw players. A league heavy with Norse, Chaos, and Nurgle should make you re-consider. I don't worry as much about other Chaos Dwarf squads, Skaven, or Necromantic... STR 3 claw is not as scary, you should be able to game for that.
