LRB5 concession
what penalties (if any) apply to a team that concedes because it is unable to field 3 players for a kick-off?
- lose the match automatically
- lose 1 FF
- give winnings to the opposing team
- give MVP to the opposing team
- risk losing players with 51+ SPP
the placement of various information about concessions (p 15 when, p 26 winnings, p 29 MVP, p 29 specifics for kick-offs with fewer than 3 players) leads to confusion

If you are down to 2 fieldable players, there is no penalty for conceding....CONCEDING
A player that concedes (see page 15) before setting up for a
kick-off where he could only field 2 or less players suffers no
additional penalties. If one coach concedes the match for any
other reason then the winner gains all of the loser’s winnings and
MVP from this match. In addition, the loser automatically loses
one Fan Factor and may not roll for a new one, and any players
in the loser’s team that have 51 SPPs or more will leave the
team on a D6 roll of 1-3. Roll separately for each player with 51
or more SPPs to see if they leave.

so the lines page 26 "A team that concedes a match must give its MVP to the opposing team (ie the winning coach gets two MVPs and the losing coach gets none)." and earlier page 29 "Remember that a conceding team receives no winnings."
are elaborations on the passage you quote, despite appearing earlier?

Remember the rule book is split into basic and advanced sections. The league section, and the concession rules digger listed are in the advanced section.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

the quotes from pages 26 and 29 are all in the advanced section (but i tend to read books from beginning to end, except when they're obviously designed not be)
so does Digger's quote, despite being the last of the bunch, refer directly to page 15, ignoring the intervening quotes from the post-match sequence pages 26 and 29?
i'd interpret it that way (with penalties not applying to a coach who concedes for not being able to field 3 players), but i'd be more comfortable with an offical clear-cut answer to throw at any rule lawyers i might encounter

Certainly I'm not "official"... but base my answer on semantics:
P15 comes first and is in the basic rules. "Basically" you can forfeit a game only at the time stated. It says nothing about number of players and any other conditions....
In the advanced rules, you now have to consider lasting effects.... So, if you want to quit, you must either be thoroughly beat (can't field three on the LOS) or suffer consequences....
The only "penalty" from p15 is losing the game.... Once you hit the part of the paragraph (quoted), highlighted in red (my highlights), you either have satisfied the previous sentence, or are looking at "other reasons" and will suffer the consequences of quitting for a reason other than inability to line up three players on the LOS for a kick-off....
