New player here learning the game on new PC version

Post by sirviceman1 »

Hello all,
I wanted to say Hello to the community.
I am a long time MMO PC adult gamer who comes to BB by way of playing Warhammer Online and a post about BB on my guilds forums.

Im really enjoying learning about the game and have a long time player who is my guild leader slowly teaching me but im not too bright and it takes a while. I do love the Warhammer lore and the Races are very much the same in both games.

I also love looking at the photos of miniatures on the forums iv joined. Also have seen some info on youtube showing custom made pitches and displays of miniature teams. The details you guys put into the players is well... fantastic and inspiring to me and who knows if i ever meet someone in RL that knows anything about bb it might be enough to push me over the edge into TT game.

I bet actually rolling the dice and sitting across from another player or being in a club must be alot of fun.

I do wish there were some video matches of great players around on the web to watch.
I was also wondering how the TT community views the PC version?
The boards are active over there and might be interesting for you guys to check out. There is a section available to the TT players to post in also.

In just a few minutes reading this board I have learned a few tips I cant wait to try.
Thanks for allowing me here and the teriffic imformation you all share and best of luck to you all.
Cheers

welcome to the home of BB....

most of the actual rules committee take up residence on teh forums from time to time.

always good to get new blood in here though.

we have some members in Florida so maybe a member search followed by some pm's may get you into TT soon.

Welcome! Played some WO myself. In regards to videos, not exactly, but over at fumbble there is a facility to watch replays of games. You can find a highly ranked coach or team and play back any of their games to assess their tactics. It's a different and earlier version of the rules to the PC game, but still could be useful for you if you'd like to see more experienced coaches / developed teams going at it.

welcome to BB

some coaches on here do post on the computer game forum as well

not me though, I *still* can't activate my account on there

as for replays, there are lots as mentioned on the fumbbl site which uses a java version of the game, though currently all the games are using the older rulebook, so there will be some differences

good for getting general ideas for caging, passing plays and things like that though

Where in Florida are you at?

I'm in Tampa, if you are near there (it's a stretch, i know), I'd be willing to meet up at the local game shop and show you the ropes!

This forum is a much better place to get advice from. The Cyanide forum is a bit of a mess and has some pretty clueless coaches there, but i'm sure they'll improve quickly enough if the game thrives.

Another facility of the FUMBBL client is to allow you to watch games "live" the graphics are very basic and it is LRB4. But you can speak to other spectators and discuss the game with them (be careful everyone is BB god when they spec) and even cheer deaths and TD's!
