Pro skill

Post by stashman »

Pro (General)
A player with this skill is a hardened veteran. Such players are called
professionals or Pros by other Blood Bowl players because they rarely
make a mistake. Once per turn, a Pro is allowed to re-roll any one dice
roll he has made other than Armour, Injury or Casualty, even if he is
Prone or Stunned
. However, before the re-roll may be made, his coach
must roll a D6. On a roll of 4, 5 or 6 the re-roll may be made. On a roll of
1, 2 or 3 the original result stands and may not be re-rolled with a skill or
team re-roll; however you can re-roll the Pro roll with a Team re-roll.

So how does it work on interception, dodge with pass block and shadowing.

You can only reroll once on a interception, but what about pass blocking out of tacklezone. Reroll both dodge (if you don't have dodge skill) and use pro to reroll interception.

How many times can you use pro on shadowing. It's in the opponents turn.

Help me out!

you can use pro once per turn

so if you use it on a dodge in a pass block move you can't use it on the catch

you can only use it for one shadowing attempt per turn

Hmmm.... then it's not so good if you are the shadowing player.

In my (somewhat limited) experience, Pro comes into play when you want to re-roll something and either don't have any team RRs left, or don't want to a team RR to conserve them. Since you have to make a Pro roll, it's not nearly as reliable.

I have a dwarf troll slayer with Pro. He often uses it on failed Dauntless rolls (especially against opposing big guys!). I also have Pro on one of my chainsaw players. Gives him a nice shot at redemption when he's about to suffer a kickback from the saw.

I would say that it's definitely less useful for skills that you use with great repetition in a turn, like dodging or shadowing. It only buys you one RR, and only a 4-6, so it's really more of an emergency measure.

concerning shadowing: as clarified in the lrb6 rules, the intent is to have the dodger make the roll(s); therefore, you cannot use pro if you are the one shadowing (and the same goes for tentacles), but you can if you're the one being shadowed (or tentacled) and then you reroll both dice (pre-lrb6 rules were very unclear about who got to reroll what)

for all the rest (dodges on pass block, catch rolls, interceptions), you can use pro once in each turn, so you can't use it on the interception if you have used it on a dodge

Pro should be rewriten to be used to diffrent actions and still use for all.

Exampel:

A player blitzes another player with ball, uses pro to reroll block dice (still 4+) and then use it to dodge (still 4+) and last to pick up the ball (still 4+)

Today and in LRB6 only slayers and vampires will use the skill PRO.

its a rubbish skill for vamps imo

though i've never really rated pro as a good skill

big guys get the best use of it due to having loner, using pro is less of an issue than losing a reroll

used to take it as 3rd normal skill on chaos dwarfs as well, though i can get stand firm without doubles now
