Now that you have Woodies to face, you need to find a way to get some Tackle.

Wood Elves are a good argument for awarding SPP for casualties caused by fouls.

(not really)> I'm gonna start eating Cheetos at Elf matches and handle his/her minis.... When they complain, I'll challenge them to show me how they can tell!

Seriously: the "not-challenged-in-two-months=retired" provision in the ladder is pure gold for removing 'Timmy Power Gamer' teams....

I tend to agree a bit about them being good, but pro-elves are even better (or worse, depending on your POV).

Having AV 7 across the board hurts, if the dice are against you. And linos for 70K dont help either.

A friend of mine cooked his dice, or put them in the microwave if they didnt roll high enough... maybe that's something you could try too.
Maybe bury them in graveyard-earth, during a full moon ?? :D

Good luck !!

When the Repulsed finally put another "1" in the win column, it came in ultra-spectacular style!!!! So much so, that Digger Goreman was moved to condolences before the second turn of the second half.... :o

The last place Repulsed had "challenged up" to The Good Guys, a human team that they'd pretty much owned before... only a tie spoiling total domination of the rivalry.... Today would seemingly start different: Tied in FAME (though the Necros had 2000 more starting fans) and losing the kick to the Guys.... Not only that, but a Bloodweiser Babe showed up on the arm of none other than GRIFF OBERWALD!!!! Undead may be heartless, but that over-buffed, wannabe elf strikes terror in any damned soul...!

For whatever reason, Griff took the center of the LOS against Bruise Killis and two journey-zeds: Spiked Jones and Dirt Landcaster.... All would fall as soon as the ref blew the whistle, with Spiked and Dirt knocked out!!!! :blue: It looked anti-evil, indeed, till Den (Golem) landed a crushing blow to a humie that was only saved by medical attention (apothecary), healing what would have certainly been a niggling injury....

Griff couldn't be everywhere and the ensuing scrum (with newly acquired block skills on Weres Long Chainey, Angus the Younger, and Ghoul Doggie 9.1; not to mention the buffed strength of Wight Slay Garrotte) favored the deadly leanings of the Necromancer's trade.... A crushing blow by Slay Garrotte put another humie in the hospital with a niggling, and human armor (gotta love that rumor of a rust spell being surreptiously used) was failing with regularity.... Nuffle cast his blind eye upon Repulsed and his death gaze on the "Good Guys"....

Touchdowns by Angus and Doggie 10.1 were answered by a Guy's score, in between, after Nuffle got bored and skulled down Long Chainey on a secondary blitz block.... Later, a catcher would be ejected from the human team for poor fouling....

2-1 at the half and receiving.... Not "golden", but feeling unaccustomably good for a real snake-bit team.... Then IT happened.... Seemingly by Nuffle's own hand, at the start of the second half kick-off, a rock unerringly found the human back-up quarterback and smashed his collar bone just below the helmet lip.... The gorey remains were carted off and the ball sailed forth into a full team of haunts.... Long Chainey sprinted quickly up the side of a stacked offense, lead by Hanover Fiste & Den.... Two turn TD and kicking to the decimated Goodies.... Griff had tried to blitz a dodging ghoul, before the hand-off, but came away empty... as he would all game long....

3-1 and another kick to the poor humans.... Griff and the name-less dirty player would spend a quarter of the game trying to "dis-spirit" Repulsed's Guardsman, Clod Raines.... While stunned repeatedly, Clod had seemingly perfected the trick of phasing his soul in and out of this plane... never quite being taken out.... Meanwhile the humans were 3 to 4 men down and the Necros had a field day with blocking/blitzing, knocking out and recovering the ball again and again.... Angus ran in his second TD of the day and a pouring rain greeted a discouraged, defeated group gathered around Griff....

The kick-off sailed extremely high and deep, forcing the remaining Good Guy QB into his own endzone.... The remaining men could not penetrate the fiends' LOS, and ended the game with a short display of passing acumen....

70k winnings and +1FF (5 now) for a 4-1 drumming of the opposition....

Three! skill-ups in the game and I'd like insight into alternatives to Block for Doggie 10.1 (Ghoul) and Dodge for the two Werewolves (making them both Blodgers)....

The team, now:

Gravely Repulsed (Necromancer)

WTL: 3-1-4

Ladder Rating: 96

Werewolf 8338 Claws, Frenzy, Regeneration, Block, ? 16spp

Definitely shaping up! :D

Have you thought about Catch? Just 'cause your two Zombies are 1SPP from going up... nah. Block or Wrestle on the Ghoul, Dodge on one Were, Dodge or SS on the other.

The Dark Necromantic gods did their best to match the hallowed start of the fabled Nuffle season by lowering the temperatures over the desert sands of the Khemri. The ghouls coughed and wrapped their bandanas, bandito style... the wights shimmered in the haze and zombies raised dust clouds into the stadium. The werewolves of Gravely Repulsed kept shaking their pelts to rid the clinging dirt.... The Desert Kings lumbered in... slow pros of the shifting sands.... The challenge had come from below and the Tomb Guardians cracked ancient knuckles menacingly....

What passed for "nice" weather hung over the field and the Kings accepted the kick. Their ag enhanced skellie deftly scooped the ball and headed downfield, but the Quad Guardians were having a time trying to knock down a three zombie front and the first crack of pain came from Long Chainey badly hurting the ball carrier, and tracking down the pigskin for the first TD.... Another kick and a few knockouts later, the sand crawlers would surrender the ball again... then disaster would strike the jubilant monsters of the cemetery crypts: Instead of running the ball himself, Angus the Younger (werewolf) lateralled to the trailing Slay Garrotte (wight).... Seeing no hope of catching the beefy blitzer, the tomb guardians gang blocked Den (flesh golem) to the ground and too many fouling blows rained down before Slay could cross the line and the whistle stop play.... Den lay, badly unstitched... too much so for regeneration.... The grave haunts carried through on the score and carried Den's corpse off the field.... 2-0 at the half....

Having no heart, no brains and no hope, sand scoured scourges began a second half of back breaking blocks and brazen fouls.... Bruise Killis became the Desert King guardian squads first casualty in a hit that broke and twisted his neck nearly off! Another regen failure and the Die Hard hero would surely never dodge again.... Digger Goreman swore and fused the bones together... swearing the experienced zombie would simply need a game of rest before returning.... Unfortunately, with a golem and zed down, seeing Spiked Jones (zombie) gob-smacked on the field and cartted into the KO box sent a cold chill into the Repulsed coaching staff.... Nevertheless, the invisible wight, Clod Raines, pulled the ball from a scrum and sprinted into the endzone again.... Amazingly, and for the first time since inception, Repulsed had to line the LOS with a flesh golem, zombie and wight! The gamey gravediggers gave better than they got, with Chainey, Doggie 10.1 and Clod ringing up three more skeletons (all badly hurt)....

Hoots of derision and rolls of death wrap bandages littered the field in the final moments of play, obscuring a frenzy of fouling by the embarassed egyptians.... But their lackluster play bled into their lackluster blocking and fouling finale... and Gravely Repulsed finished with a pyrrhic victory.... Finally, the Repulsed are "dead even" at 4 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses....

The stingy desert stadium owners would only give up 30k in winnings, even after negotiation, though the fiendish faithful increased to 60,000.

Angus hauled down the MVP and Slay, after many a knock-down for lack of skill, rolled doubles and set out to dodge school...! Digger Goreman was seen calling upon the rookie spirits of Dirt Landcaster, John Pain and Skelly Tavalis to fill as Journey-zeds during "reconstruction"....

Tough times... but the undead always rise again....

True.... Upon reading again, it might lead one to believe Den died.... Not so, as he is only MNG....

Still a tough loss of personnel and another game in which he won't have a chance to skill up....

The spread of SPPs is encouraging:
05 Zombie
05 Zombie (MNG)
11 Ghoul (4 cpl/ 1 cas)
08 Ghoul (1 cpl/ 1 td/ 2 cas)
11 Wight (3 td/ 1 cas)
18 Wight (2 td/ 1 cas)
04 Golem (1 int/ 1 cas)
04 Golem (MNG) (2 cas)
23 Werewolf (2 cpl/ 4 td/ 2 cas)
22 Werewolf (2 td/ 3 cas)

(additional points from MVPs)

It's taken awhile, but the team is gelling well....

The current ladder standings:

Code: Select all

ARKHAM BLOOD BOWL ASSOCIATION LEAGUE
1 118 Dead Reckoning Undead 1,130,000 2 0 1
2 116 Big Cheesy Wood Elf 1,020,000 1 0 0
3 112 Gravely Repulsed Necromantic 1,380,000 4 1 4
4 83 Desert Kings Khemri 1,050,000 2 0 3
5 69 Gravely Ill Nurgle 1,000,000 0 0 2

Sunshine and pansies came floating across the Graveyard this morning... annoying the staff and bringing a creeping dread into the black heart of Digger Goreman.... Sure enough, the mail bat came gagging and crashing into the postal box with a perfumed invitation from The Big Cheesy, Wood Elf team.... Addressed to the Ladder leading Dead Reckoning (Undead) team, Goreman had no choice but to zap on a signature in elven blood and revive the mail bat for a return missive....

The perfumed dandies with the glinting smiles cut a definite contrast to the sallowed visages of the Dead! The weather would pass for nice and more fairies than monsters would show for the match... AND the kick would go to the Cheese.... A quick, pre-game huddle with team and assistant coach Marquis de Sade would bring forth a desperate plan: scorched earth! If we couldn't expect to win, we'd foul every yellow-bellied, sap-sucker that hit the turf!!!

With the first two turns ending on Mummy double-downs, it looked like things would go according to a woody script! But the last turn merely put a mummy on the turf, while a woodie would break! Turn 3, all the dice would start falling in synch for the Dead and more ones than are average would start eating up the elves rerolls.... On top of that, the woodland wimps would start taking knock-outs at the rate of two per turn! The turning point was when the twiggy twink's dancer recovered the ball and all the pansies covered him downfield.... That's when the Undead made a crucial decision to ramp up "scorched earth", surfing and fouling out another two elves....

Score 1-0, Big Cheesy, with 6 in the knockout... and NONE came out! :o
Then the wierdest Pitch Invasion, ever, would occur with lady elves tossing flower petals amongst the players on both sides.... (Pitch invasion resulted in ONLY ONE stun to an Undead zombie and NONE to the elves)....

Dead Reckoning would have a 2 to 1 advantage and continue to foul heavily before scoring in turn 8.... By then only 3 elves were on field for the Cheese....

And, again, elves REFUSED to revive and play! Only a single lineman would return to the field, giving the prissies a total of 4 players for the second half....

The referee made it obvious he'd accept bribes for the second half and, despite actually having 3 zombies caught, the Reckoning rendered the elves down to ONE on-field player before scoring the winning TD!

2-0 for the dirty-dealing Dead Reckoning!!!!

For a rare loss, the Cheesy wouldn't suffer much: one strength loss and three more fouled out MNGs.... A wardancer advancing and three rent-a-auto-Ag-4s for the next game.... Unfortunately the Dead wouldn't receive skills... just the win.... Nevertheless, a win vs the cheesiest is a beautiful thing to savor....

Cute, but you might want to thumbnail them before the TBB Pic Police find you.... :P

I occasionally play straight Undead since it only takes 4 models to go from Necro to Undead: 2 weres and 2 golems out, 2 more ghouls and 2 mummies in....

Without a doubt, I've championed curbing straight Undead, along with the Uber teams.... Frankly, and it's been a long time, I supported cutting straight Undead :o when we went to 5th (?) edition.... When the fanatically biased Undead coaches threatened open mutiny, I felt the same as I do toward the dwarven and elven biased: they're missing the boat and keeping BB from being the best it can be....

So, yeah, mild chuckle on the seemingly karmic backlash... mostly glad it did something for you....

In all honesty, Dead Reckoning did not achieve the level needed to defeat Big Cheesy. As Matt pointed out, in the beginner wood elf thread, one must have TONS of luck... and DR did: everything the BC wardancers tried to do ended in double 1s, or a 1 when some other dice disaster claimed their turn reroll early.... Coupled with an OVERT campaign of "devil may care" fouling AND Nuffle cursing the elven recovery dice.... Halfs might've had a field day with the cheesiest....

So, meh, re-size and enjoy your "cleverness"....

A little while ago I traded for a fig that instantly illicited the cry, "That's Nuffle!"

Since acquiring HIM!, I've won both games he's sat at.... :o I just finished painting him yesterday morning, and I'll get a pic up within the week... (still gotta varnish the ol' git!)

My team minis are finally set for awhile (standard Necros and Undead), picked and painted, so I can go back to "The Box".... I'm gonna go ahead and do a lot of the work on "The Gallows" sports bar, since I have so many loose pieces that need completion.... First up is the bar and keep from "The Green Griffon Inn", a wonderfully detailed resin with a LOT of character (there's so much detail that even the leaning mop is actually a mop head attached to a hand ax!). I'll be using both the pieces seen in the pic! If I have the room in the "open air bar", I'll paint up Ol' Count Drunkula and put him there.... Past that is the roasted pig on spit and a trio of chefs, along with servers, tables and a couple undead pizza delivery boys....

Fun, fun, fun...!

Teeeheee - it was just a little clever . No hard feelings I hope.
I've just seen a lot of your cheese logos lately, and wanted to point out that even if there are some bent elements left in the game, you can't really blame a guy for playing.

Cheers
Martin :)

Edit: Oh - I wish you'd had more luck nerfing the undead back in the day 8)

Nah, Plasmoid, absolutely no hard feelings... sounds like proper light-heartedness made it through just right.... :D

Yeah, along with getting trees off the woodies and abolishing khemri... but I think the majority would agree that, though my intentions are for the leveling and benefit of BB, making me supreme ruler just makes too much sense to exist in this current reality...! :smoking:

Speaking of making too much sense: why am I STILL paying 90k for a Wight (blitzer) when Orc blitzers only cost 80k and have BETTER armor...?! :pissed:

Just wondering.... :-? :?:
