Goblin starters...

Post by Aino »

erm,...The title of this subject says it all (and more! *lol*)
Seeing the lovely converted goblin-mini's using the plastic regiment has brought back the idea of playing with the small gitz!
But what should my line-up be like not to serve as starters for the other teams around? (generally 1 Undead Coach, 1 Orc Coach, 1Wood-Elf Coach, 1 Halfling and 1 Human)

generally, with either of the stunties, you want to start w/ both of your big guys, 4 or 5 RRs, and as many of the little ones as you can afford. a high FF is also important, as you're going to be replacing your players often. one thing you might consider, if your league allows it, is holding back a little cash, and freebooting 1 or 2 guys to use on the LOS. it wont matter if they die, and you get 2 for the price of 1. even if things dont go well, the extra cash you spent on the freebooters will likely put your TR under 100 for their next game, hopefully this extra 10k can be put to good use.

2 trolls x 100k 200k
10 gobbos x 40k 400k
5 rr x 60k 300k
8 FF x 10k 80k

total 980k

20k left over for a freebooter on the line. or, if you want, ditch 2 of the gobbos, giving you 80k for another freebooter, an apoth, and 1 more FF. i have quite a bit more experience w/ flings, so i dont know how well this really works. but it seems ok.

You can't start with just 10 gobbos without an apo. Trust me, i coach a goblin team. 5 RR is too much. Get more gobbos, an apo. Just take 4 RR or even 3. that's what i have. Get 2 trolls or even 2 ogres to throw them. You don't have the always hungry that can be a pain.

Yes... I also think 3 RRs should be enought - as most turnovers will be from the Bigs or dodges....

If your league allow (and it should!!) don't freeboot goblins! Freeboot STARS!! The Fanatic and Chainsaw impose some respect on the adversary... and the Bomber is a "pay one, get two promo".... He IS THE THROWER!!... :D

Finally.... think of getting a Ogre and a Troll... for 20k you get a "goblin thrower" wich won't try to eat your little ones.... and have a good agility... well, 2... :)

It's funny when a troll tries to eat a goblin.... but not for you if you are in the last (or so) turn of a game...

Ahhhh! Someone who understands me... Interesting point of using the bomber as the thrower. :?: I'll think about that.

Definatly freeboot the secret weopons. There is nothing greater than seeing a bunch of lunatic gobos on the field with all sorts of weapons, and most of all, you can rip your aponents to shreds if the weapons work right 8)

Take at least two big guys!! for some hitting power.

On offence get one or two gobbo's in front and pass or hand of the ball, for passing and catching you need the RR or fot the big guys

On defense use you big guys in the LOS and let some gobbo's assist, against fast teams (skaven, Welf) keep enough goblin dudes back to attack in numbers.

I would say have fun with the gobbo's and throw them with the ball with your big guys and with some luck you could suprise one or two teams!!!!

I would take a Ogre and a Troll... you just cann't have a Goblin team without Trolls, but a Ogre is a much better "Goblin-Thrower"...

The problem will be the first double... Hail Mary Pass? Guard? Both skills seem veru usefull in a goblin team...

First double is sure hands or dirty player. Hail marry pass is not that great, and shouldn't be picked up on a first double. Not before your gobs get reception or diving catch.
