Double 5 on a ST4 HE Blitzer
Mighty Blow, Guard or +MA? I figured I'd post where the traffic is, but the team blog is here:

The league is very dodgy and low-AV, but there's a lot of ST5: Pro Elves, Wood Elves, Skaven, Undead, Undead, Necromantic and Orcs. I won't face the Orcs again until the postseason.
Here's the team as-is:
The New Albion Expatriates (3-1)
High Elves, TV 1.49M
TRRs: 2
Coaching Staff: Apothecary
Treasury: 0
FF: 3
Linemen:
José Cañusi: Kick (11)
Woody Nichols: Wrestle (6)
Grant Stume: Dodge (6)
Ellis Island: Dodge, Side Step (16)
Lando deFreeh: Dodge (6)
Homer the Brave: Guard (6)
Blitzers:
Uncle Slam: +ST, (Mighty Blow, Guard or +MA) (16)
Rush Moore: Side Step (8)
Catchers:
Rocky Redglare: -AV, Dodge (12)
Lou Z. Anapurgis: Dodge (14)
Cal Forney-Driemann: Dodge (6)
Throwers
Rhett Wydenblut: Dodge (7)

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

When it comes to High Elves, my opinion is they have enough speed, so +MA isn't a big deal. +AV might tempt me in some leagues, as it might help this player survive a LONG time.
However, I think this player benefits a lot from Dodge, Side Step, Frenzy, Leap or Tackle. (This is important because if the player never gets a double again, he is still useful.) The team benefits a lot if he has guard.
The fact that he is strength 4 means he is already a standout, so concentrate on making him better is what I say. And the best way to do that is Mighty Blow- he will advance faster with Mighty Blow. Plus he will have a lot of soft opponents in the wide to hit!
MAke the standout better I say, then follow up with Frenzy, Tackle, Dodge, or Side Step.

Lots of confirmation for my original inclinations. Unless somebody convinces me otherwise before Saturday afternoon (when I play my next game; not sure who), it'll be Mighty Blow. I'd complain about not being able to spam MB, but I've spammed Dodge, so I can't really say much. So far the only Tackle is on my other team, the Arabyans (Norse template).
Frenzy next, unless I roll a double or +Stat. If he doubles next, I'm thinking Grab to deal with the anticipated explosion of Side Step, and to facilitate the 1TTD. If I get another 10, MA8 it is (bwahahahaha).

I'm surprised that the poll has come this close. I'm also surprised that nobody voted Guard.
I see the value of MA8... funny enough, in my head MB was competing with Guard (last game, I twice blitzed the ball-carrier and pushed him into one of my TZs, but one time couldn't work out a 2d block, and the other time had to move a guy up to do it). I'm wondering really though how much I'll get from MA8 given that I'll probably have an MA8/ST3 Blodger or even a Blodger and a Wrodger in the next game: that's the thing that makes me think of going for a skill.
I didn't put AV up because I have 6 more games in the season and a 4-round tournament, so he'll probably only improve one more time after this (he's my SPP leader right now, but it's mostly off of Cas and an MVP; I'm a firm believer in spreading the love, which is why most of my players have 6-8 SPP). I think I'm going to hold off on using him for ball activity until he breaks 25 SPP; at that point I can try to bring him up again. Besides, the old Magic Helmet was cursed for me (whenever I got one the guy I gave it to usually died within a couple games... even the Blodging Troll), so I'm hesitant to take AV increases.

Re: Double 5 on a ST4 HE Blitzer
I took Mighty Blow. I didn't think I'd need yet another MA8 guy, and I'm superstitious about AV increases; I have a bad track record with +AV players dying young. 2 games in, results can validate MA, AV, MB or Guard.
* Blew a TRR on a GFI; +MA would have made that automatic and saved me a RR.
* Got KO'ed on an armor roll of 9; +AV would have given him 2 more actions.
* Scored a Cas off an injury roll of 9; Mighty Blow took out a Ghoul and earned me 2 SPP.
* My Guard lino got SI'ed in the next game and missed 25-ish turns of play. I really missed him.
But another lino got Guard so I have two now, I won both games, and MB has earned me some free SPP (and got rid of a skill player early-on in a close game), so thus far MB seems to be as good a choice as any. Let's see how it goes over the season.
Edited for clarity.

Re: Double 5 on a ST4 HE Blitzer
Because of the ST 4 I took MB. On a standard Blitzer I would have taken +1 MV, additional speed serves the HE well.

Kick off return was my idea :)

MA 8 is not going to make him any 'quicker' so to speak.
MB allows you to crack armour, only use it on armour, A player face down is better than a player face up.
Guard does not make the glitz of the position.
Armour is an option.
But to waste a double on him would be a loss. I'd choose MB!
