Block Rat Ogre rolls 5+5 - help?
I figure it's either dodge or claw. This is just such a rarity that I don't want to regret it. Help me out?
Edit: Or maybe tackle.

hehe, np.
I'm thinking a lot of people will agree with you. I just can't get the idea of a blodging rat ogre outta my head long enough to make the choice.
However, he will shred dwarves like they were halflings :p

I'd take Pro or Claw. I'd imagine Pro on a wild animal would be excellent, although Block+Claw would make him a real killer instead of a useless sack of fail that most Rat Ogres are.
The high strength of a Rat Ogre means that he often gets to play with AV9 or AV8 players.
Dodge would be almost purely a passive defensive skill that might help when someone hits him.

I generally take Break Tackle on my rat ogres so that they can make an effective blitz. Dodge helps with this.

I am a big fan of Tentacles on rat ogres and minotaurs, as their Wild Animal negatrait means that they are never going to lose their TZ which makes the Tentacles SO much more useful.
With a beast of Nurgle, I will often not take hits against the players trapped in my Tentacles for fear of going stupid and losing them. You do not have this worry with the rat ogre. And the fact that you already have Block makes it all the better! If you do take the Tentacles, then your eye should be on Stand Firm next, or Side Step with doubles.

Are your opponents bashy or speedy?
If you fear other teams' big guys, get Dodge.
If you just have to deal with a lot of AV, get Claw.
If you see a lot of elves, get Tentacles. Downside to Tentacles: already has Prehensile Tail.
Not knowing anything about your opponents, I'd say Claw.

Claw is only useful against certain players and teams, against others it will be wasted.
With Frenzy Side Step could be good, of course another one not mentioned yet is Diving Tackle and you can get stand firm on normal rolls. Combos great with Prehensile Tail and gives him more character. You will need to use blitz actions with them though to get them next to targets you want to tie up.
Dodge wouldn't be a bad option depending on how you use him but it is easily negated.
Then there is always the Pro option but it doesn't have as much flavour.

Yeah it depends on the other teams in your league. But also how long your league will last?
If you think there's long enough in the league for a third skill I'd go dodge and wait for Break Tackle as he will be a total nightmare to deal with with that combo.
If you don't expect to have time to get a third skill then Claw is good if high armour teams are your opposition. If there are a lot of dwarves I'd definitely go for Claw as dodge is negated by tackle en masse.
If you're in a shorter league structure but facing lower armour finesse-type teams then I'd consider tackle or even diving tackle (as Grum says) as both stack really well with prehensile tail.

Claw or Tentacles depending on your league composition.
Don't pick Pro. If you're at the point where you need a ROgre to make a play, then you've got bigger problems than using pro to retry a loner roll. Claw and Tentacles will work for you in terms of intimidation and tactical limitations when the ROgre doesn't activate.

I think it depends on what you're facing and how you play. I'd say look at your opponents in general, and in particular look at the teams you're going to have to beat (and be able to beat!) to get where you want to be. Then decide whether you want an injury skill or a marking skill.
Another skill to consider: Tackle. Not as good for man-marking as Tentacles, but more likely to cause a turnover, and can produce some knockdowns off blocks too, acting as an SPP accelerant. Tackle+PT has almost as much deterrence value as Tentacles, even though it's more likely to fail. It's particularly good against the two team races vs. which Claw is totally worthless: Amazons and Woodies with no Tree.

I'll vote for Pro. With block, he's already an important piece, and Pro is going to make him so much more valuable as a blitzer, or an open field defender/cager.
He doesn't have the AV9 / Thick Skull / Regen that make other big guys want to be in the thick of battle. Instead, he's better to blitz with, or make enemies come to you. Guard/Stand Firm are the things for those damage-soakers. With this guy, I'd say pro, no doubt, with claw a close 2nd.
