Easy part done - how to dev Slaan next steps

Post by Tkkultist »

Now with the help of the slaan team guide and a few key questions I have a pretty good idea of what skills are in the que for next steps but I really feel that I need some advice on which players I should be angling to move ahead from here. Most of the models are looking at longer runs to the next (3rd) improvement - as such the placement of the MVP and chocies for plays will be crucial to make any more advances. I am also wondering if I should pick up one more lino or Blitzer now so that I can definitely level one more up.

In my league coaches get to choose where to award the MVP and all players get +1 SPP for any game they are on the pitch. It will be a 12 game league by the looks of things and I am just complete game 5 moving into 6 and have had some decent luck.

Krox - Guard - 10spp - the next to level(?) as I get 1 spp for playing him and can mvp
Blitz ST4 - Block - 16 SPP
Catch AG5 - Dodge - 16spp
Catch - Dodge - Sidestep - 16spp
Catch - Dodge - Kickoff return - 16spp
Catch - Dodge - 6 spp
Line ST4 - Wrestle - 16SPP
Line - Guard - 8 spp
Line AG4 - Guard - 18spp
Line - Guard 6spp
Line - 5spp (goes up next game)
Line - 5 spp (goes up next game)

Also have apoth/5 rr/1 cheerleader

Krox should get Stand Firm next as it improves his man-marking and punishment sink roles. Doubles block of course.

I'd be tempted to buy a new blitzer and skill him up if you have the money. The kroxigor will be fine with just two skills, Guard and Stand Firm, so I wouldn't waste an MVP on him. He'll get 1 SPP per match anyway and it'll probably get a cas or two so he'll skill up soon enough without the MVP anyway. Additionally, Stand Firm is a nice skill but the marginal benefit is still not too big.

Actually I'd concentrate on getting someone to 31 SPP's next, either the blitzer, one of the catchers, the +ST lino or +AG lino. Using the MVP's there will be the most effective way to do it. The blitzer could get MB, the +AG catcher could get Sure Hands (for picking up loose balls as you'll most likely have used the reroll earlier in the turn getting it loose) and the linos could get ball extracting skills.

You really don't need to worry IMO. Your Improvement rolls have been so good that this teams runs itself.

But, for the sake of it...

You should get a Strip Ball linefrog asap. Kick on the other would be sensible. I agree that the Krox will skill himself. Tackle or Mighty Blow are a good bet on the ST4 Blitzer.

Thanks folks - I was wondering the same about whther to push the krox now or let him do it himself and really push one of the others - I think I will go with the latter option.

Much appreciated and yeah the dice rolls have been kind to me but what makes it best is when I call out the rolls that i want to make and watch the kids groan and roll their eyes when they see me make it! Funny thing is none of these teens ever remember the dice rolls that dont go the way I want - they just fixate on the ones that do 8)

Spam wrestle on your non-guard linos & the +AG/+ST ones. Spam block on your guard linos. As others have said this team runs itself.. You may be facing a lot of inducements though early.. Which will balance out later though.. Get a 2nd blitzer to develop as a killer, use your current one as a blocker with tackle, guard, MB & sf or SS type of skills now. Stand firm the kroxigor, but I'd probably give your MVPs to the players with +AG / +ST. The liners will skill up quick with your +1 SP per game rule, and you dont want them at skill 2 or 3, where they have really not much to pick at all (Wrestle, tackle.. then what?).

7/16 rolls are double / stats.. I'd advice your opponents to confiscate your dice.

Heh - well the good news is I rolled them all in front of the kids - the better news is I used my opponents dice after each game ;)
