Starting Necromantic (LRB5)
I'm planning to go for a Necromantic team next season. We have a "rookie league" so there is only newly created teams. I have three diffrent teambuilds, but need some advice for wich one I will go for. We will probably play 5-8 games with play-offs.
Team Build "Safe"
6 Zombies
2 Ghouls
2 Flesh Golems
1 Werewolf
4 Rerolls
Team Build "Medicore"
6 Zombies
2 Flesh Golems
2 Werewolfs
1 Wight
3 Rerolls
Team Build "All Out Horror"
4 Zombies
2 Flesh Golems
2 Werewolfs
2 Ghouls
1 Wight
2 Rerolls
Wich would you choose? Or can you tell me about your teambuild.

Re: Starting Necromantic (LRB5)
None of those builds have both wights! How can you call the first build "safe" when you are leaving off the safest member of the team? With AG3, MA6 and Block, AV8 and Regenerate, this guy can do it all!
Is the LRB5 with the experimental or no? (That extra 10K for the golems is killer!)

Re: Starting Necromantic (LRB5)
Definately take both wights. 3 RR is pretty essential as well.
Maybe:
2 golems 220
2 wights 180
wolf 120
Ghoul 70
5 Zs
3 RR 210
11 players. Or drop the wolf for a ghoul and a zombie. Or one of the golems, but they skill up much slower and don't die as much.

Re: Starting Necromantic (LRB5)
Re-reading the first post I see that you are only playing 5-8 games before the playoffs - the golems take a while to skill up, and while they can be valuable members of the team, for short league like this I would be tempted to go with:
2 wights 180
2 wolves 240
2 ghouls 140
5 zombies 200
3 RR 210
30K FF/CL/AC
Drop the wolf? Never! they are far more valuable than the golems. As much as I love the golems, I would prefer this:mumbojumboist wrote:Definately take both wights. 3 RR is pretty essential as well.

I'm going to disagree with my friend, SunDevil and put some support behind Craigtw's build.
May be tough going until you get a few skills, but you start with the important pieces there.

Re: Starting Necromantic (LRB5)
The team will continue forever, but the rookie season is only 5-8 games depending on how many teams we will get.
Then the team will play on (we have teams that have been playing over 80 games tabletop since LRB5 come out).
So I think flesh golems will need to be in the begining for the hope of MVPs and maybe a forced touchdown or a lucky completion, but casualties will be hard to get

Re: Starting Necromantic (LRB5)
Fair enough. When I began my Necro team this season, I very nearly went with the team described by Craigtw. But knowing how expensive the rerols get convinced me to drop a Wight (painful!) for that 4th reroll. I bought the Wight after 2 games and have never regretted having that 4th reroll.MeatLoafX wrote:I'm going to disagree with my friend, SunDevil and put some support behind Craigtw's build.

Though I found that after buying that Wight and 2 Flesh Golems, the money is just building up in my treasury. I could have bought that 4th reroll by now but it helped a ton during those early games, easily making up for the team lacking one of it's Blocking Ghouls.
Lots of options for Necro - very flexible and fun team.

Grave Diggers:
2 x Wight
2 x Werewolf
2 x Flesh Golem
5 x Zombies
2 Re-Rolls
bank 20k
I made the wights into the ball handlers and had a good running game.
