Re: Rules for this forum
How long should the descriptions be? Will players get a whole page to themselves? Or is it more like a bunch of Did-You-Know's?
Are you still taking submissions? When do you need submissions by?

Re: Rules for this forum
There are no rules except: Describe what and/or who the player is and don't contradict existing background.
Although it seems that the stories should be rather short (500-1000 words, something).
But then again, go ahead, enjoy writing and nevermind.
It would be nice, though, if the existing background wouldn't contradict itself.

Re: Rules for this forum
In the LRB 5 entry for the Champions of Death, the text says they won BB VI in 2468, below in the stats it says 2467 and on top of that, both is wrong.
In second edition Ramtut played for them in 2488, in LRB he left the team in 2486. Ghouls played now for the Champions in 2468, a change that should have come after 2488 and before 2493-4.
The second edition gives three NFC champions for 2476
Slann in, out, in again
Sacred site from the new world relocated to the old world
more stats errors
and so on...
That background is a mess.
or as Nikk Three-Horn sayed "This is Blood Bowl, buddy - anything can happen!" You better believe it!

I was just mad about going blahblahblah and then being wrong.
And you don't get valium that simple anymore.

Re: Rules for this forum
The Slann were never out. Just because they are not mentioned in 3rd edition background does not mean they are out (ie wording to say they never existed).UncleBob wrote:Slann in, out, in again
Stephen and I spent a LOT of hours going through the 1st and 2nd edition rulebook, handbook, compendium, Star player book and White Dwarf articles accumulating the information for the LRB 5.0 background. I'd like to think we fixed/caught most of those errors between us. Politely object to your comment that it is a mess. That background is a mess.

Re: Rules for this forum
As for deadline ... well ... originally we were going to submit this with LRB 6.0 ... bbbbbbuuuutttt ... GW isn't playing nice on that front so we felt trying to submit this and LRB 6.0 would be mudding the water when LRB 6.0 is the key document.
Once LRB 6.0 is up on the GW site ... I'll circle back to getting this PDF made. YES ... I know GW was so nice to legally kick me out of the process ... which is why when I have the document put together ... I'll have Doubleskulls submit it to GW.
And we'll make sure its hosted here if GW refuses to post it.

Re: Rules for this forum
I didn't prefer to LRB specifically, but rather to the whole and especially to that change from second to third, the attempt to make Blood Bowl Warhammer.
Since then it's a patch up.
And a mess.

Re: Rules for this forum
At one point I was surrounded by six open books and bit my fist in frustration, while struggling to find a way through all that scattered and sometimes contradictory pieces of information. And that was for one star player only (Ramtut).
Galak is right, he and Stephen put up with a lot of work to create that LRB background, an effort GW probably wouldn't have done themselves.
I'm just struggling with that background, since third edition.

Someday ... I'll have the drive again to pull this document together. I was just starting on it when I got hammered and that has left a bitter taste in my mouth.Anglachel wrote:How is the PDF coming along? Any ETA?
The whole point of this exercise was that this was going to be a document that GW hosted along with the LRB 6.0 so that players had a better idea who the stars are.
Now that GW is refusing to post on their site any background information at all for BB ... the whole point of this effort was flushed. The best we could end up with is a document that just TFF members knew about.

Re: Rules for this forum
Grandma Wendys Legal Lackeys basically gave this community effort...(Namely the Community they are supossedly supporting!) ....the big Middle-Finger, with the release of the new Rules format on their Specialist Games section...
So the big effort put in by everyone...more recently UncleBob...(Well done that man/woman)... has gone to waste...
...this may be another annoyance for you to write-off or add to to your own Book-Of-Grudges against GW...Grandma Wendy...........
........Yes they produce a range of miniature in plastic outstripping all other independant Companies....but boy do they really kick there long term followers in the proverbial gonads when their collective sphincters twitch when IP rears its head....
....Not so much the legal way they went about it....more as the complete negligence and empathy they gave to the community as they steam-rolled the Legal Dept ahead of them...
....Jeezus...justy realised I ranted!!!...apologise.....but I feel much better!!........................
Carry on regardless!.....
