It is my understanding the Chaos Pact team is not an official Grandma team and thus not thier IPDarkson wrote:Might want to be careful calling them Chaos Pact, what with Grandma's lawyers being all twitchy...

Still a team in Blood bowl though even if it's not official. The Comp Rules aren't official either, but they're still GWs IP.
Just call them something else, and there can't be a problem.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Re: Neomics: Chaos / Chaos Pact preview
Darkson is right. Ol Grandma's lawyers have sent plenty of legal letters with less justification and they could always make threats about what they will do to the comp rules or pressure the NAF to not accept the roster. Best to call the team something different.

Add one for "Legion of Doom"
I am also wondering if you are planning on sculpting the other positions; I love to see what they look like since these are so good.

Re: Neomics: Chaos / Chaos Pact preview
I don't think they can copyright that. I found several meanings on Wikipedia:
* The Legion of Doom (mash up group), a mash-up group
* Legion of Doom (Super Friends), a group of DC Comics supervillains
* Legion of Doom (hacking), a hacking group that took its name from the supervillains
* Legion of Doom, the agglomeration that included the professional wrestling tag team The Road Warriors, and their manager, Paul Ellering.
* Legion of Doom (ice hockey), nickname for a line of ice hockey teammates Eric Lindros, John LeClair, and Mikael Renberg
Anyway; it's probably better to have the WWF-lawyers rather than GW after you

Re: Neomics: Chaos / Chaos Pact preview
+1 for being careful.
GW have been _very_ irate about people casting up miniatures taking advantage of their IP (namely, Blood Bowl - if in doubt check up about the 'caveat' about LRB that Galak originally posted.). This has probably been the #1 catalyst for the GW legal deluge and probably the reason why someone higher up than JJ appears 'ticked off' at the community (and I'm not telling you anything you can't already know from reading elsewhere on TFF). (my thinking is #2 reason has to do with the Cyanide game, but that's my personal thoughts, and not from anything to do with the BBRC).
I would be very careful - the miniatures I'm seeing on TFF being cast by RollJordan and Neomics, and the rats for Impact are getting bolder and bolder, which makes _me_ nervous, given the fiery temperament of GW legal at the moment. At the very least, all these figures will make someone angry, and ensure the 'eye of Sauron' will be watching closely for anything they can stick legally on anyone.
That said - all these miniatures are fantastic work and it is _such_ a shame that the 'mother company' is so twisted and not supportive, when it could be. It wasn't that long ago that one caster who had created fantasy football figures (Phil Bowen) was offered a contract to make official BB minis. *sigh*.

Re: Neomics: Chaos / Chaos Pact preview
Well, it's to my understanding that Neomics makes models in a sort of post apocalyptic vein, so why not simply call them Mutants?
