Hey don't think I have played BloodBowl in the best part of 10 or so years but my friend found his old copy of the 3rd edition (I think) and it has reignited my love of it! Firtsly, I want to say how great it is that there is still such an amazing community for it through these boards. Was very happy to see a lot of love for it still going down!
Anyway, I'm not overly familiar with the game as when I first played it I had to travel to my friends who was miles away so only ever had at most a dozen games of it, so expect a lot of questions from me! My first question is are The Norse Team worth getting and where can I find their stats? Is there an online database somewhere that shows all the stats of the teams and shows all the info about star players for example? My second (ok, third then) question is, where is best to buy teams etc? Off the official Games Workshop site? Or maybe there's somewhere I can buy them pre-painted (I'm not much of an artist!)?
Thanks very much for your help in advance!

To purchase teams there is Impact Miniatures,
If your after GW teams then try a independant stockist as they usually have cheaper prices than GW.
Or good old Ebay!
You could even advertise the fact that your looking for eith this or that team on the trading thread.
Nice to see a old-new face!!

Do you mean you're looking for the rules?minesapint wrote:Anyway, I'm not overly familiar with the game as when I first played it I had to travel to my friends who was miles away so only ever had at most a dozen games of it, so expect a lot of questions from me! Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Okay best way to answer both questions. My first question is are The Norse Team worth getting and where can I find their stats? Is there an online database somewhere that shows all the stats of the teams and shows all the info about star players for example? 1) The most current rules for the Norse team can be found on the most recent edition of the rules for the game. Check out this thread viewtopic.php?f=24&t=29643 ... this is your best source to get updated on the rules. If you are currently just after the new rules for the Norse then check out the link at the bottom of the first post of the thread I linked.
2) Figures. The Norse team as sold in the GW store doesn't match the team in the current rules. Your best bet is BBFigs.com which is currently in the process of selling down their inventory as their plan is to close at some point in 2010.
They could hook you up with official GW Norse figures: 2 Blitzers, 2 Throwers, 2 Catchers, 6 Lineman, 2 Norse Werewolves, and a Yhetee for $75 USD (47.50 GBP) (prices include shipping costs) which is a decent discount off of GW's prices. Ebay might work for you but won't get the complete team using the new rules. Just email me them directly at info@bbfigs.com and copy and paste this offer into your email and they'll hook you up.
Welcome to our community!

Re: Return after a LONG break and need help!
Hey thanks very much for the links and advice, all of it has been really helpful. Seems there's quite a few more rules than in the handbook! I do like the look of the Norse team, seem like they should be a good enough starting team without too many flaws. Can anyone recommend any tactics for Norse or recommend any other teams (other than Human or Orc)?

Norse team is great. Having the Block skill all over is a great way for a team to start. All of their players are worth fielding and are a good team at hitting and scoring(but not taking a hit so much). Check out the links to the playbooks above, those are usually fairly well written.
I'd second BBFigs for what GW figures they still have in stock. When I started up a league last year after almost a 20 year gap since my last game, they made buying a team easy. Instead of the GW habit of putting an uneven number of players in packs that causes you to end up with extra figs you don't need, BBfigs has team deals for exactly what you want in a team build.
