Two clarifications

Post by Hox-ii »

1. This should seem straightforward, but some coaches in my league are trying to make me forfeit my team. In the LRB, the "Create a new Blood Bowl Team" states that a team must have at least 11 players. If a team drops below that 11 player limit due to deaths during the season, and no funds are available to hire new players, will a team be forced to drop? Furthermore, are we required to hire new players if funds are available? I had a nasty run in of bad luck and lost 2 players in the same match after losing 1 the game before, and I'd really like to keep the team I have.

2. Can someone clarify for me what an "eligible empty square" is, regarding the sideline rule? In the LRB, it is stated that "Players may only be pushed off the field if there are no eligible empty squares on the field." Does this imply that if one square that is normally eligible on a pushback is occupied by a standing player, prone player, or even the ball, the player being pushed has to fall out of bounds?

Thanks!

Ok you only have to start the team with 11 players after that they can dip up and down accordingly.

As for the squares, only a player makes it unavailable, prone or standing. The ball doesn't count as an occupied square though so you would have to push the player into the square with the ball rather than off the pitch.

Code: Select all

_________
. .x a. . . . .
. . . b.c. . .
For example if c blocked a and x is the square with the ball then a would get pushed to x and the ball would scatter. If b blocked a then all of the 3 eligable squares would be off into the crowd, so he gets pushed into the crowd.

Now if x was a prone/standing player rather than the ball then when c blocked a, you could choose to push a into x, or you could push him into the crowd.

Hope that clears it up.

I figured I could start a team with less than 11 players once the league started, but everyone in my league wanted my team gone because they've been doing quite well lately.

As for the pushing rule, thanks for the clarification. We had come to the same conclusion, but just wanted to make sure.

Thanks for the prompt reply!

well, in addition to that, you only are required to set up 3 players on the line. It also seems that as long as you have 3 players you could still have a team. Not much of a team, and you'd probably want to scrap them at that point but... All that being said, you shouldn't be forced to buy more players either. I guess you're league-mates will just have to suck it up.
