18 Jan 2010, to be known at the Asylum, forever more, as "Slay Day".... An upstart Amazon team had quickly risen through the rungs of the League Ladder to bump up against the recently idle Gravely Repulsed.... At 450k Overdogs, everyone was expecting a whoopin'... just not necessarily the one given!

Repulsed came only a thousand short of doubling FAME and gave up the kick. The Wild W's (Amazon women with all names beginning with W) brought Helmut Wulf onto the field and he carved up the Necros.... The return hits were never enough to even properly dent his armor and the Undead's Werewolf, Long Chainey, had to score a TD on a turnover to get the demonic deisel dork off the field.... Nuffle would even the score by tripping up Clod Raines (Wight) on a GFI for a blitz... cementing an Amazon tie at the half....

The wicked W's would then introduce the "b-ad little w-itch", Zara the Slayer, in the second half... and she quickly KILLED Slay Garrotte, the 4 St, dodging Wight.... The field reverberated with "MURDER HER", and no one furiously screamed louder than Digger Goreman.... Den (Golem) drove her back and down... then Doggie 10.1 drove his claws through her vulnerable underbelly, up through her chest cavity, and squeezed her heart till it burst! Gleefully, Goreman chanted his evil sutras and raised the former star as a dark nova! Zara the Slayer became Zara the Slain, and now played for the Gravely Repulsed!!!!

A blodging werewolf is a good werewolf and though costing Digger Goreman a fortune in antacids, Angus finally picked up the ball, survived a mighty blow blitz, and motored down field for a walk into the end zone.... Timing the score would be costly as the aforementioned Doggie took a vicious hit and will miss next game.... Arrow Finn (zombie wardancer) and Long Chainey would rack up a casualty apiece before the end....

Slay Day would cost the Repulsed in re-attaining #1 status in the League.... An MNG ghoul and a totally slain uber-wight.... On the plus side, a replacement Wight was easily attained and Zara provided a soul-less minion to fill out the ranks....

Final: 2-1 for the Grave!

Bruise Killis rolled (6+4) and took a regular skill: Kick; Angus rolled 1+2 (why is it never the other way around?!) and chose Fend....

Third place Dead Reckoning went looking for a Rumble and got a rare Snooze Cruise through the snow flakes of second place Vors Vikings (Norse).... Three rerolls more than sufficed for each half, the only casualty suffered (zombie) was regenned, dodges were few and never failed (never failed a gfi) and my opponent nuffled out at least four times and almost always on crucial rolls.... Casper (Wight) scored the only honest casualty, ghouls Gory Rory Jr. and Giggler scored TDs, ghoul Rancid had one completion and zombie Sludge got the MVP.... On the plus side for Vors: only two badly hurts (zombie Grit fouled one).... Gory Rory gained the Block skill and Casper takes Guard....

Didn't get to play today, but:

Witnessed a helluva game today between the cellar dweller Killjoys (undead) and the Wild W's (amazon)....

By halftime the ladies were down to half a team, but a series of improbable dice (4,4,fail/4, 6,6) "aired out" a bomb to the endzone and the half ended 1-0: Wild W's....

The Killjoys did just that, killing the W's TD scorer and converting her to a zombie.... The numbers were showing and too few women meant a score for the Undead....

With only 6 players, and 5 turns, the W's nearly succeeded in playing "keep away", scooting all the way back to the endzone and finally managing to scoot out and nearly complete a pass near midfield.... With two turns and no rerolls, the Killjoys couldn't quite live up to their namesake and nuffled out in trying to pick up the pigskin....

Final: 1-1

Ugh! When the Orcs come to town it can be nothing but trouble... even for the Undead.... The fourth place Horde took a shot at the top rung of the ladder against Dead Reckoning with their speight of Guard Blorcs and pair of piling-on, mighty blow, jump-up Blitzers (the other two are just plain pains.... :P ) Turn-out was even and the Orcs would lose the coin toss to our heroes....

The first half was a butt-ugly... excuse me: ORC-UGLY dice festival with the Horde stuffing it to the Dead.... Despite rising KO's, Reckoning managed to sprint ghoul Rancid down the sideline... and right into a dice-erific, nuffle-blessed, Orc does it all, blitz into the crowd... MNG.... A mummy would also get chain surfed, and a piling on clinic would start... to which Digger Goreman gave the thumbs-down sign and zombies started fouling like crazy... eventually losing three to ejections, but KO'ing one of the cheese-wad blitzers for most of the game.... The Orcs had another secret weapon in their Hail-Mary thrower! The first half ended in a scoreless tie, only because the greenskins couldn't quite capitalize on their "punts".... DG would continuously curse the rulesmakers who allow for HM's to only fumble on a "1", no matter how many TZs are on them.... The Horde would try one last time in the half to score, but Spooky (wight) made an improbable interception and that was that....

The undead fielded a full team against 9 orcs (in this game, if they got KO'd.... )..... With a ghoul in his face, the thrower HMP'd again and the race was on to the Reckoning's backfield.... It was won, again, by the necro-boys and the ball was moved upfield by Casper (wight).... Nuffle finally ran out of one's, but graced the Orcs with 4+'s to set up a two die blitz, with Casper just short of the goal line.... His bag finally empty of curses, and the Horde out of rerolls (you just don't know how darned hard I had to work to get it this way!), their blitzer could only push the haunt next to the sideline.... Blodging ghouls are a good thing, and with Casper's assist, Giggler (ghoul) shoved the Hordeling down and cleared the path for the game's only TD on turn 15...! The Horde rolled crap in the final turn, as did the Reckoning, and the game ended on a whimper....

Amazingly there were ZERO casualties, for the game, on both sides.... 50k winnings and +1FF for the Reckoning, with Gutrott III getting the MVP and no one gaining a skill.... The Horde would skill up yet another (Blorc) player with a doubles and Jump Up.... By the gods that aren't, that's irritating...!

Knicked a tough one, yesterday, from an Ogre team with a diving tackle snotling! Now Aahz knows his stunty teams and this runt was costing my new-ish Necro team it's two rerolls right quick like.... This Necro team, Grave Reservations, started without ghouls and lost its first game to a newbie human team with hot dice.... My intentions were evil, of course, and I attempted to "wipe the snot(lings) off the face" of the pitch.... I've never seen so many pushes rolled on 3d6 in my un-life!!!! As so many of my games seem to start, I'm frustrated by Nuffle's ham-fisted dice calling... and half-way through the first, I'm watching a snotling cruise into the endzone with MY received football.... :o Luckily (?) I'd regenned the first two casualties and faced the big-boys with a full squad.... Then lightning began to strike... and by half-time he had a full team, but only one Ogre out of four due to casualties by my team!!!! (Couldn't roll a snot's armor... but caved in the Ogres... Nuffle is a perverse old goat humper....) Also, by halftime, I'd finally scampered a wight into the far side of the pitch and the game was tied.... The last Ogre finally went bonehead and forgot to pass the snot on turn 8....

Second half and we're down to 10 players due to a badly hurt zombie.... I set up to receive a flying snotling and the last Ogre boneheads again! Trying to track down snotlings continues to be a major pain... but I finally free the ball and laboriously inch my way through side-stepping midgits, and my own fumbled pass, only to get my werewolf blitzed down by a 1/2d blitzing snot! :pissed: The trailing Were shot, full-speed, from the LOS to down the offending git and the original ball carrier double gfi'ed for the go-ahead TD...! One last chance for a git to get his wings... and the last Ogre boneheaded AGAIN!!!!

I got off easy, I suppose, with 3/5 of my casualties regennerating and only 2 zombies being badly hurt.... All three of my casualties to him were BH's.... I actually didn't hafta deal with the Diving Tackle Snot for the second half as a fan BH'ed him with a rock!!!! Of course, an opposing fan responded with a stunning of my werewolf.... :|

Still working up names for the players, but here's the skinny:

Zara the slain! I love that. :D
Why Fend on the Wolf? It seems an odd choice. I always go for Side Step to protect me from surfing.

True about sidestep.... However, the wolf probably will have to dodge after the result....

Two reasons for Fend: 1) I really haven't used it in the past and wanted to experiment and b) should you catch up to him on his break-away run, not only is it hard to bring him down (blodge), but you can't keep that tackle zone on him.... As fast as he is you might just wind up shoving him another step toward the end zone.... I don't run them down the sideline unless I'm sure they'll get away.... Two squares out, with Fend, and even Frenzied opponents are neutralized....

That's the theory.... :orc:

I see you are using them as Runners/Catchers. My main Wolf is more of a Blitzer with Blodge, Side Step, DT & Jump Up so I try and keep him in Tackle Zones. I may try Fend on the second Wolf as I am training up a new one at the moment.

Props on getting a 5 skill Were...! And surviving without Av upgrades.... :o

Past builds for me:

Wolfman Jack/Werewolf/8339/Block, Mighty Blow, Dodge, Sidestep/88spp

The Midnight Growler; Super Star; Werewolf; 8ma 3st 3ag 9av; Block, Dodge, Mighty Blow, Sidestep (Deceased)

Scary Hairy/Werewolf/8338/Mighty Blow, Catch, Block/43spp

Cyanide/Werewolf/83310/Mighty Blow, Juggernaut/59spp

Angus the Younger:Werewolf 8338 Block, Dodge, Fend 33spp

Some notes: The catch Weres haven't done much for me... it's difficult without a dedicated passer, and it seems to waste their blitz ability.... Cyanide has been my wierdest build, getting nothing but doubles and 6+4's on his skill ups... still, I think he's the most fearsome Wolf I've ever seen.... And, of course, I'm using Angus to test out Fend.... Could be a neat trick when you decide on the follow-up option....

If'n you think two weeks with the flu does a number on your colon... just come back to the House of Nuffle for another violation! :pissed:

The dice did even out today: for the slew of one's and two's I rolled... my opponent rolled 5's and 6's.... For the skulls I was graced with, he knocked down everything in his path (and away from it!)....

The only "joy" I got out of the whole thrashing, was to roll MVP on the only player to make any SPPs for the game....

I got outta my sickbed for this?!!!

A friend of mine once "coocked" his dice in the microwave. They rolled much better after that.... not !
't was fun though.

You could bury them in some graveyard somewhere, on a full moon, and remove them (dig them up) when it's a "new moon"... Or should that be the other way around ?

Or just buy a new set. Chessex dice roll good for me, most of the times. As do the red ones from the NAF.

Dice rolling is like that one food that gives you heartburn... but only on occasion.... Otherwise it's sooooo delicious... till you partake of that one more roll... and... WHAM!, you're scuppered!!!! Funny (not!) how it happens most when you're at the peak of excitement... your opponent has left only one possible play on the ball... you work through all the flaming hoops (often without rerolls... OR... using a reroll IF you had one)... and then your positional inevitably cocks-up the roll (seemingly it doesn't matter how many dice you used), falling down, and you're lucky if the twit doesn't off himself on a stiff blade of grass.... :|

Such was the day, yesterday... hopefully the bad juju is out of the dice for next weekend's showdown.... I'm hunting that thrice cursed 2nd place Norse team with my 3rd place Necro team.... It's time to chew that cheese ball up!
