I´m new here, wanted to introduce myself

Post by the solitaire »

Hi, I am new to these forums.

using the same username I am active (or was active) on a few other miniature forums. Maybe someone stumbled across one of my posts there.

Anyways, I have been playing Bloodbowl for at least 12 years by now.
Started off a while ago, but kept playing the game occasionally.

What brought me here is my search for miniatures for a new team.

GW made a great game with Bloodbowl, but to be honest, I can not quite agree with their current distribution and price policies. To not dwell too far off topic, I´ll leave it at that however.

I currently own:
Orks (converted from 40k Ardboyz, a pair of fantasy black orks, a BB Troll and the BB Goblin miniatures)
Scottish orks (converted from fantasy ork warriors and greenstuff, recently sold)
Forestfolk (citadel journal #17, converted from Norse, imperial cavalry and beastmen)
Dwarves (just the GW BB minis)
High Elves (again GW)
Elves (the new specialist games elven team)
Skaven (and again, GW BB minis)
Halflings (and again, GW BB minis and some GW fantasy treemen)

After I managed to lay hands on the BB boxed set, Deathzone and te original Dungeonbowl set I started building a styrofoam big Bloodbowl gaming table. It´s intended to be modular and expandable with booths, stands, a cheering crowd and everything a Bloodbowl field has or should have.

This motivated me to build two more teams and that in turn made me go on a search for suited miniatures.

One of the teams I´m currently painting, even though I do not quite have all the models complete yet is a necromancer team. I started off with the GW Bloodbowl necromantic team as it does have some really nice miniatures. As I started however I replaced the werewolf with a Reaper model, replaced the Flesh Golem by two models from the Reaper line and am currently looking for 2 more zombies and some vampires (turn counter etc.)

The second teamare Lizardmen. I saw (and ordered) this miniature:

(might consider either one of these as an alternative):

I thought he would make a perfect Kroxigor.
To complete the team I guess I will have to order a set of the Sarcos Roll Jordan sculpted.
I considered frogs and I also considered sculpting some lizards myself but these models are just perfect.

Welcome to the board!

I'm using the Helldorado "Kroxigor" as well ... compare this thread. For the rest of the team i use warhammer plastic Sauri and Skinks. However, i've also ordered the Rolljordan Sarcos as i love those minis (they come with their own Kroxigor as well).

thnx for all the welcomes :)

@ Tim, the Helldorado mini scales up to be exactly the right size for my liking. thanks for the size comparison. It still hasn´t arrived, but your conversion inspires to do great stuff with the guy. The Sarcos really are the best lizard bloodbowl miniatures I found so far.

Unfortunately Heidelberg is a bit out of the way for me, otherwise I would drop by for a game. I live rather close to Dusseldorf at the time.

@ purdinas, you might have a chance to see those scottis orks still. I recently got acommission for some Orks, and I might convince the owner to let me build him a scottish ork team. I´ll keep you informed

You just missed the German major tournament in Drakenburg, Düsseldorf which was 2 weeks ago ;)
Maybe next year ...

However, there's plenty of guys playing in your area as well.

I might actually give that a try once, playing a tournament.

I always avoided tournaments because I know I can be quite spirited in tournaments.
I actually prefer playing casual games, but most people I asked are only interested in playing Bloodbowl if I were to set up a league or tournament of sorts.

With Bloodbowl that is quite easy to understand as you team evolves during the games played where for friendly games you mostly have to revert to 1.000.000 credit teams.

I only found out where the Drakenburg is about half a year ago.
Do you by any chance know which teams are generally allowed in such tournaments?

I´m a bit of a sucker for showing off nicely painted stuffs, so if I were to play in a tournament I would aim for best painted team, at least, as long as Guido Günther isn´t competing  . He is a very talented and patient painter. Far more patient then I will ever be.
