Goblin Skills:
Specifically, should Goblins be able to get Dirty Player without rolling doubles? It would be in character for the team, and Gobbos are supposed to be the dirtiest players around. It just makes sense to me.

I'm only half with ya. I agree that crappy teams should be crappy teams. My thing is that Gobbos SHOULD be dirty players...hell, I'd say start with DP and charge 50K for them. Gobbos should be foulers and should have secret weapons. Charge more if needed, but they should have stuff like that. Maybe up the reroll price and allow more specials, and DP on any roll. It fits the fluff.

I will admit that I try to go with the fluff as much as possible. The way I see it, Gobbos raise fouling and using Dirty Trticks / Secret Weapons to an art form. Read anything about them, and they ARE good at it. Why shouldn't the rules reflect that? They suck at BB, but what they lack in ability, they make up for in disregard for rules.

I agree that goblins epitomise fouling. however, their size should limit the damage done to an armoured, tough BB player even when prone. giving them all dirty player would unbalance it too much - I think the point that they tend to gang up on prone players shows how they foul. individually they suck, but they excel when in mobs, kicking and biting etc.
so basically... leave them as they are. if you want to foul, gang up on people!

I say let them as they are. Maybe they have the image of being mean and dirty players, but I guess every player who is insane enought to play BB is in some sort mean and wants to maim others (maybe except sissy elves and naive halflings), so Goblins are not very special for BB, except that they use dirty tricks in private life as well!
Even if Goblins have this tremendous urge of fouling, most of them are too weak and too dumb to take advantage of that.

Perhaps instead of adding DP to their skill list, they could have a player with the skill added to their roster?
Goblin Expert 6 2 3 7 Dirty Player 50k
It just seems wrong to me that Gobbos rarely get the skill. In fact, if they roll doubles, they've got about 3 skills they'd rather pick up.

The Hobgoblin team in the MBBL2 was designed for the type of play you'd like to see Skummy. Personally, I would not object to a house rule in a league that said that Goblins could take DP on a normal skill roll, but I'm not in favor of such an exception for the official rules.Skummy wrote:Perhaps instead of adding DP to their skill list, they could have a player with the skill added to their roster?
